Teachers eed to be sesitive with regard to studets who may ot be able to cotact family members, or for families who wish to keep medical histories private. The goal of this activity is to develop a uderstadig of how some health ad welless issues may be hereditary. a family history may also be a excellet gateway to iquiry ito diseases, heredity, ad so forth. You re the Doctor! A Patiet s Family History doctors ofte ask patiets if ay medical coditios persist i their family. i this activity, you will coduct a family history o a patiet. This may be a geeral family history that tracks ages, illesses, ad so o or you may track a particular medical coditio through a family tree. doctor-patiet cofidetiality requires that you use fictitious ames. Here is a list of questios you should ask your patiet: do you have ay medical coditios? Have you had ay hospital visits? What for? do you have ay allergies? What kid of allergy? do other members of your family have allergies? How log did your logest survivig relative live? do multiple births (twis, triplets, etc.) occur i your family?
