We had a brilliant, blue sky day for our trip and as an added bonus, dolphins were spotted from the seaside lookout. History Highlight: First Landing State Park is the historic location where English colonists first landed in 1607. Marian Jenkins and Mae Marie Mosely Today the park s boundaries appear much the same as they did for the colonists hundreds of years ago with inland waterways, sand dunes and beautiful seashores. (Continued inside) The residents posed for a picture over the Cypress freshwater swamps at First Landing State Park.

History Trip Highlight (Continued) The Cape Henry Lighthouses are located on the Fort Story Military Base. The first Cape Henry Lighthouse was built with imported stones from London and was operating by October 1792. When the lighthouse became dangerously cracked and unsafe, a new lighthouse was constructed of cast iron 150 feet from the original Lighthouse. The First Landing State Park coastline The Cape Henry Lighthouses seaside overlook Having a Ball at Willow Creek! residents have a ball playing beach ball chair volley ball and bean bag baseball each week! A portion of the profits will go to helping a local senior community that caught on fire by a lighting strike.
