Balance is due two weeks prior to the first day of camp. Space is limited and camps are filled on a first come, first serve basis. You will receive a registration confirmation in the mail or by e-mail. Cancellation/Refund Policy- Campers will receive a refund of all but a $75 administrative handling fee if notice of cancellation is given up to two weeks prior to the start of camp. If a cancellation occurs within the two weeks prior to the start of camp no refund will be given unless there is a documented extraordinary circumstance. Other- Camp confirmation, additional information and Medical History/Assumption of Risk Form will be mailed or e-mailed to you upon receipt of your application and deposit or payment in full. These forms can also be found on our website. The Medical History/Assumption of Risk Form needs to be returned no later then 2 weeks prior to camp. Roommates- Roommate requests must be submitted in writing no later than two weeks prior to the first day of camp. After that date, we cannot guarantee that your preference will be honored. Requests cannot be honored at the time of check-in. Meals- Day Campers must provide their own bag lunch. Week-long overnight & commuter campers see the camp description. Scholarships- We do not offer scholarships but will accept scholarships and grants offered by outside groups. If you have a scholarship or grant, please enclose verification with your registration. If your scholarship covers the full amount of the camp, you still need to send a deposit and verification with your registration. Once we receive full payment we will refund your deposit. Discounts- Families sending two or more children to a camp or sending one child to two or more camps get a $10 discount per child or per camp. You will receive directions and information on what to bring to camp by mail, e-mail or you can download the information from our website: southernmainehuskies.com. Housing- for overnight camps will be provided in Philippi Hall. This dorm opened in 2001 and is located adjacent to the Costello Sports Complex. This dorm houses about 220 students in singles, doubles and 3 or 4 person suites. Camp Packets- An informational camp packet will be mailed or emailed prior to your camp. Check in- You will receive information regarding specific check-in times and location by mail or e-mail. You can also get this information on our website. In general, check-in for our week-long camps is on Sunday from 1:00 2:00 p.m. Check in for day camp is from 8:15 8:45 a.m. on Monday (these are subject to change so please check the packet that will be sent to you several weeks before camp starts.) 9 2

Softball Camp (Girls Entering Grades 8 12) STIX Field Hockey Day Camp (Girls Entering Grades 3 8) July 9-12 (Sunday afternoon Wednesday, 5:00 p.m.) Camp Director: Sarah Jamo Overnight $430 / Commuting $365* *Commuting Camp runs approximately 8:45 a.m. 8:00 p.m. each day Join Coach Sara Jamo and the Bowdoin College coaching staff for a week-long overnight softball camp. This camp will help you improve on the fundamentals of softball and teach new skills and techniques of the game. Invest in your future performance through proper training from dedicated professionals who know how to motivate and bring out the best in you. USM Softball Camp will give campers the opportunity to learn from highly qualified coaches who are dedicated to teaching and motivating young players. The objective of Softball Camp is to provide the best possible instruction in all phases of softball. Each player will receive individual, team, and group training in pitching, catching, infield, outfield, base running and hitting. After this week long softball camp you will leave feeling more confident in your softball skills. There will be both individual and team instruction throughout the week. We will have fun and exciting drills and games that will incorporate field hockey skills for all in attendance. We want to encourage the love and knowledge for the sport of field hockey and want players leaving camp excited about the next chance they get to play. Goalkeepers - must supply their own equipment, either personal or from their school. FIELD HOCKEY SKILLS OF FOCUS: Ball Control Passing & Receiving Offensive & Defensive Techniques Communication Penalty Corners Penalty Strokes Team Building Bonny Brown-Denico, USM Field Hockey, became head field hockey coach at USM in 1998. A former two-sport All-American for the Huskies, Brown-Denico helped USM to the 1987 NCAA DIII Field Hockey Final Four. Inducted into the USM Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996, Coach Brown-Denico has coached numerous all-conference, all-region and several All-Americans during her tenure. In 2003, her team won the Little East Conference, qualifying for the NCAA National Tournament, and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. PROGRAM FEATURES: Throwing Fielding Bunting Hitting Base running Sarah (Bennis) Jamo, USM Softball Coach, had an outstanding pitching career at the University of Maine. A twotime all-conference first team, and an all-rookie selection while at UMaine, Jamo finished her decorated career with the Black Bears as their all-time leader in strikeouts and wins in a season. Helping lead the Black Bears to the 2004 America East conference championship, Jamo was named to the all-tournament team a feat she repeated in 2005. Utilizing her in-depth pitching knowledge, Jamo continues to serve as the Pitching Coordinator at The Edge Academy in Portland, ME, and has overseen the pitching development for seven highly competitive Maine Thunder ASA teams. In her fourth season as the Huskies head coach, Jamo has led USM to a competitive resurgence. 3 8

Soccer Day Camp (Boys & Girls Entering Grades 3 8) Soccer 1/2 Day Camp (Boys & Girls Entering Grades K 2) July 17-21 (Monday Thursday, 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.) Camp Director: Michael Keller 1/2 Day Camp $125 (Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) If fundamentals and fun are important, then Soccer Day Camp is the place for you. Beginning, intermediate and advanced players will practice the basic techniques and tactics they need to progress to the next level of skill. Players will be grouped according to age and ability. USM Soccer Day Camp is intended to teach players the fundamentals of soccer, while improving individual play and team tactics of play. The soccer camp staff will give the beginning player the skills necessary to compete, while challenging even the most advanced youngster. Mike Keller, USM Men s Soccer Coach, has coached at the NAIA, NCAA Division I and III levels. He has earned Coach of the Year three times during his career, and has led several of his teams to post-season. In his years in the collegiate ranks, he has coached several All-Americans, and numerous all-conference, all-state and all-region athletes. Keller was the Maine ODP coaching director for four years and head coach for 20 plus years. He s certified to teach the State, Regional, and Advanced Regional Coaching courses for the NSCAA. He holds a National D License from the United States Soccer Federation and Goal keeping and Professional Development Certifications from the NSCAA. We will teach fundamentals with an emphasis on puck skills and skating. Coaches from various backgrounds will strive to enhance proper techniques and educate your child with expert instruction and positive reinforcement. We allow players to make mistakes and then correct those mistakes in a comfortable repetitive atmosphere. Campers must be able to tie their own skates and button their own helmet. Harding a former USM player (1985-88) and assistant coach (1993-96), was inducted into the 2015 Husky Hall of Fame. Prior to USM, Coach Harding was head coach at North Yarmouth Academy following a six-year run with the Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He began his association with the Maineiacs as an assistant coach for two seasons before moving into the dual role of assistant general manager/assistant coach for the next two seasons. After his playing days at USM, Harding split one professional season between the Maine Mariners and the Johnstown Chiefs (1988-89). 7 Girls SWISH Basketball Day Camp (Girls Entering Grades 3 8) June 26-30 (Monday Thursday, 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.) Camp Director: Samantha Allen SWISH Day Camps are intended to teach players the fundamentals of basketball from A to Z. Players will be grouped according to their age and ability. They will receive both individual and team instruction. The SWISH staff will give the beginning player the skills necessary to compete, while challenging even the most advanced youngster. Girls Swish Staff is comprised of outstanding high school coaches, college coaches and players from throughout New England. Each is highly qualified to give every camper the best in both individual and team instruction. We are proud of the quality of our staff and their enthusiasm and dedication. We also offer Team Camp. Have your coach contact us today for more information! Samantha Allen, USM Women s Basketball Coach, is in her second year as head coach of the Huskies women s basketball team. Prior to her position as head coach, Allen served as the Huskies lead assistant and the program s recruiting coordinator in 2014-2015. Allen arrived at USM after serving as the Director of Basketball Operations with Division I University of Vermont Catamounts. Allen began her collegiate coaching career with the Smith College Pioneers from 2010-2012. A former Miss Maine Basketball Finalist, Allen was inducted into the Lake Region High School Hall of Fame, and had a successful collegiate playing career at Division II Southern New Hampshire University and Colby College. Players will be grouped according to age and ability and taught on an individual and team basis. Our staff is geared to give the beginning player the skills necessary to compete, while challenging even the most advanced youngster. Karl Henrikson, USM Men s Basketball Coach, returned to coach at his alma mater in 2003. A member of the Huskies Men s Basketball team, Henrikson played on the 1979 Final Four team. A veteran clinician and master teacher who brings an abundance of basketball experience and knowledge of the game, Henrikson has been named coach of the year four times. His teams at UM Presque Isle and Maine Central Institute won 58% and 78% of their respective contests. Henrikson is a sought after lecturer and clinician, speaking at camps and clinics throughout the USA and Europe. Most recently, Coach Henrikson was honored by his peers and colleagues with the 2016 Little East Conference Coach of the Year award, and was inducted into the MidCoast Sports Hall of Fame. 4

Volleyball Day Camp (Girls Entering Grades 6 12) Baseball Camp (Boys Entering Grades 7 12) July 31 - August 4 (Monday Thursday, 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. and Friday, 9:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m.) Camp Director: Diane Newell This camp is intended to teach players the fundamentals of volleyball. Players will be grouped according to their age and ability. They will receive both individual and team instruction. The USM staff is geared to give the beginning player the skills necessary to compete, while challenging even the most advanced youngster. This camp will emphasize skill development and both individual and team concepts. Each player will receive special attention according to their individual needs. Our goal is to develop skills, team play and overall ability so that each player becomes more knowledgeable and better able to apply these concepts to game situations. The philosophy will be to improve through hard work, develop individual and team skills and to have a positive and fun experience. YOU LL LEARN THESE VOLLEYBALL FUNDAMENTALS: Passing Setting Serving Blocking Rotations Defense Team Defense Diane Newell, USM Volleyball Coach, her role as head coach at USM, Newell had a successful career as the girls varsity volleyball coach at Norton (Mass.) High School. During that span, Newell was named the Tri-Valley League Coach of the Year in 2012, and her team was recognized with the Sportsmanship Award in 2011 and 2012. Before Norton HS, Newell was the volleyball coach at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton, Mass., for two seasons. An outstanding collegiate student-athlete, Newell was a four-year member of Holy Cross Crusaders squad as a middle hitter. Newell had 401 kills, 35 assists, 168 digs and 167 blocks in 314 games. Since taking the position at USM, Newell has been hard at work growing the sport of volleyball through her coaching and administrative roles with the Maine Volleyball Clubs. July 23-26 (Sunday afternoon Wednesday, 5:00 p.m.) Camp Director: Ed Flaherty Overnight $430 / Commuting $365* *Commuting Camp runs approximately 8:30 a.m. 8:30 p.m. each day The desire to play baseball doesn t end with the last game of the season. Don t let baseball end in July, extend the season by attending Baseball Camp at USM. There s no better time to develop your skills than when you re in peak condition and in top playing form. Players on American Legion or Babe Ruth teams who are competing in regional or state championships can be accommodated. This camp is intended to teach the players the fundamentals of baseball. Players will receive both individual and team instruction. The staff will give the beginning player the necessary skills to compete and will challenge even the most advanced youngster. Emphasis in instruction will be centered on hitting, throwing, fielding, pitching and base running. YOU LL LEARN THE FOLLOWING BASEBALL FUNDAMENTALS: Hitting Throwing Fielding Pitching Base Running 5 Ed Flaherty, USM Baseball Coach, is a master at every aspect of the game and is recognized as one of the finest coaches at any level. During his nearly three decades as the Huskies head coach, Flaherty has compiled an impressive record of 940-422-4. Flaherty s teams have consistently competed at the national level including a number of appearances in the NCAA Division III College World Series, capturing national championships in 1991 and 1997. A standout player at UMaine, Flaherty received NCAA Division I All-America honors and helped guide his UMaine team to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Flaherty has been inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame and was recently inducted into the Little East Conference Hall of Fame. 6
