Introduction City of Salinas Welcome and thank you for attending Resource Group Meeting #2 Thank you to those who attended Stakeholder Meetings or Resource Group Meeting #1 (or both) This is the Community s Vision to help the City Council set policy for Economic Prosperity and You Represent the Community! Four Step Approach 2013 June August October November January 2014 Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Team kickoff and Market Assessment Community Outreach Economic Development Site Assessment, Strategies, and Visioning Administrative Draft EDE Draft EDE for Public Review Note: Two other steps are required for the City Council to adopt the Draft Element Public Hearings with the City Boards and Commissions and with the City Council. These steps are estimated to occur in February and March of 2014.

Community Conversation SPARC started the Community conversation about economic prosperity in Salinas several years ago. The City, SPARC, and Resource Group are carrying the conversation forward to a strategy and policy plan. SPARC and the City hosted 14 Stakeholder Group interviews (with approximately 70+ people in attendance) and Resource Group meeting #1 (with 300+ people invited and approximately 80+ people in attendance) on August 28 & 29. Range of stakeholders: Ag, landowners, labor, education, environment, old town, business, construction, community groups, etc. The Resource Group is charged with continuing this Community conversation here tonight and until the City Council adopts the EDE as a policy.
