SAINT ANGELA RETREAT DAY Directors: Sister Ann McGrew Sister Marietta Wethington Date: Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 This retreat will focus on Saint Angela Merici, the founder of the Company of Saint Ursula (the Ursuline Sisters), the first noncloistered community of women in the history of the church. She wanted women to devote themselves to spiritual works of mercy, especially the education of young girls. ENVIRONMENTAL/PRAYER RETREAT DAYS can be scheduled for students at the Retreat Center. Activities can include indoor and outdoor games, a tour of the Maple Mount Farm, a visit with the sisters at Saint Joseph Villa, a shrine scavenger hunt, etc. MARIAN RETREAT Director: Monsignor Bernard Powers Date: Oct. 18-19, 2014 Cost: $125-Residents $80-Commuters This retreat will focus on Mary and will include opportunities for solitude as well as communal prayer, recitation of the rosary, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharistic Liturgy. THOMAS MERTON RETREAT Director: TBA Date: November (Date TBA) This retreat will focus on the beliefs and writings of Thomas Merton (1915 1968) who was born in Prades, France, and was educated in France, England and the U.S. In 1941 he entered the Cistercian Order as a monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Kentucky. Merton wrote many popular books and articles on the spiritual life. The director helps the directee to discern the movement of the Spirit in his or her life. The Spiritual Direction Training Program at Mount Saint Joseph is an opportunity to develop and practice skills necessary to learn the art of spiritual direction. The rural setting offers a quiet and serene atmosphere for prayer and discernment. The program is designed for both experienced directors and those who feel the call to this ministry. Under competent supervisors, all participants will have opportunities to learn and refine their skills. 3
