BGHS Student Produced Film Selected as Winner The American Spirit of Gritification, was selected as the winner of the Bellewood Youth Film Festival. http://www.bgreen.kyschools.us/olc/page.aspx?id=27212&s=1051 Thirteen BGHS students were involved in the production of this film. They competed against 21 other films from KY and IN. The students who participated were: P.J. Correa, Greg Austin, Taylor Bell, Ryan Gott, Harry Griffin, Kristen Johnson, Shametra Lightfoot, John Minton, Connor Moore, Brandon Pruitt, Nick Rauh, Uriel Vargas and Sam Williams State Academic Meet Results Michelle Korte placed 6th in English Composition at the State Governor's Cup Competition this past weekend. There were 80 students in that category at State, and only the top 15 students make it into the second round of evaluations for 10 places. Michelle did an excellent job! 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year Allen White State Speech Results Ben Luna, Moses Robinson, and Alyssa Phelps qualified to represent BGHS at the KHSSL State Speech Tournament. Moses Robinson made it to semifinals in poetry interpretation which makes him one of the top 10 in the state for that event. Ben Miller Selected for German Study Trip BGHS sophomore, Ben Miller, has been named a recipient of the AATG/PAD Study Trip to Germany. He demonstrated high achievement in the study of German on the AATG test. Out of the 25,000 entries across the U.S., only 39 students were selected for this prestigious program. Ben will travel throughout Germany from June 29 thru July 23. Congrats to Ben and his German Teacher, Dr. Rose. March 18, 2011

2011 PROM Saturday, May 14th @ the Sloan Convention Center JROTC News The JROTC Cadets have had a busy February. They traveled to UK for a Drill Meet competition, hosted the annual Military Ball and recently participated in the Austin Peay State University for a Raider Challenge.

BEYOND THE CALL: Karen Swiney, a counselor at Bowling Green High School, received a Beyond the Call award Monday night for her efforts to help a student dealing with a brain tumor. The student had no short term recall, and couldn't find his way around the building, or recognize teachers. For several weeks, Ms. Swiney met him after every class to take him where he needed to go, and waited for him outside every day. She even visited him in the hospital in Louisville after surgery and has continued to keep the school family updated on his progress. Ms. Swiney s commitment and compassion for all students is visible each day at BGHS, this is just one example of her efforts to go beyond the call. Snow Make-up Days We will be in school on the following days that were originally not scheduled as school days: Friday, April 22nd May 25th-27th GRADUATION is still scheduled for Sunday, May 29th at 2:00pm.
