ORIENTATION DETAILS Blue Student Sessions Red Family & Guest Sessions Green Combined Student/Family & Guest Sessions 7:45-8:30 a.m. Student and Family/Guest Check-in Residential College Courtyard Housing check-in: If you have decided to stay in the residence hall during orientation, make sure you check in at the lobby of the Residential College. Remember to check out prior to breakfast the morning of your session. Students: If you are planning to stay with a friend, make sure you both check in at the same time. 8-9 a.m. Student and Guest Breakfast & Browse Fair Residential College Dining Facility Come enjoy breakfast, which is offered in the Residential College dining facility and features hot and continental options. Good food, great atmosphere and time to read the morning paper. During and after breakfast, stop by some of the many tables set up by campus clubs and organizations, and find out how you can get involved at Ole Miss from day one! 9:05-9:40 a.m. Welcome to the University of Mississippi Students and their family members will be welcomed to the university by members of our student orientation staff and university administration, and will hear an overview of the day s events. 9:45-10:25 a.m. Rebel to Rebel: Transfer Discussion Group Various campus locations (Find your group number outside.) Members of our student orientation staff will meet with you in a small group of students. Your leader will discuss student-support services and university resources. In addition, he or she will go over the orientation schedule, student handbook and other details of your session. This is your opportunity to ask important questions about your student transition to the University of Mississippi. Rebel to Rebel: Family Member Orientation Overview Members of the orientation staff will review the orientation schedule and answer questions, so hopefully you ll feel a little bit more at ease with the process. 10:30-11:10 a.m. The Transfer Transition: Doing More at Ole Miss The University is proud to provide a welcoming environment for all entering students. Transfer student services are available to ease your transition to Ole Miss. During this session student leaders and university professionals will discuss with you the many opportunities available to transfer students to get involved, overcome challenges, and succeed at Ole Miss! Double Decker Campus Tour Departs from Join us for a tour of campus in one of Oxford s Double Decker buses. 11:15-11:45 a.m. Health Professions Advising Information Meeting Learn about the UM Health Professions Advising Office, and hear more about preparing to enter a health-related profession such as medicine, nursing or physical therapy. This meeting is open to students from all majors who are interested in any health-related profession, excluding pharmacy. 3

12:30-1:20 p.m. Lunch Rebel Market (Paul B. Johnson Commons) Enjoy lunch in our Rebel Market, an all-you-can-eat dining facility. 12:30-1:20 p.m. Academic School Meetings Various locations Meet outside the Rebel Market. (You will be escorted by the student orientation staff.) This is your first opportunity to meet with officials from your academic school and hear about the academic requirements specific to your department. This includes the types of classes you need for your degree, number of hours required to graduate and the advising process. 1:30-3:30 p.m. Academic Advising & Course Registration Various locations (Your advising time is on the back of your nametag.) Academic advisers have been hand selected to work with students during orientation. Our advisers are specifically trained to work with new students to help them select the right type and number of classes toward a four-year graduation goal. Adviser meetings typically last about 30 minutes and may be conducted in a one-on-one or group setting. After advising, you will move to the next phase of orientation class schedule input at Weir Hall. 1:30-2:05 p.m. Campus Networking Session A Various locations Please select one of the interest sessions below to attend. Dining Services/Ole Miss Bookstore In this session, you will learn the ins and outs of the different meal plans available, and Flex and Express dollars. Campus Safety Union Ballroom One of the hallmarks of our university is its ranking as the ninth safest campus in the nation by The Daily Beast online newspaper. At Ole Miss, campus safety begins with the relationship our police officers seek to develop with students. You will learn about how we keep one another safe. University Libraries Library Lobby next to Starbucks Think the library is a boring place that no one uses? Think again! Our librarians help students at every stage of the research process. You can even get a latte in the library! This fun tour will show you what makes the library unique while also showing you firsthand why it is anything but boring. A cool glass of lemonade and a stop by the Writing Center are included. 2:15-2:50 p.m. Campus Networking Session B Various locations Please select one of the interest sessions below to attend. All about Athletics Tickets In this session, you will learn how to buy your athletics tickets, learn about the new incentives program and much more! Campus Recreation Union Ballroom In this session, you will quickly find opportunities to engage in numerous recreational programs and services administered by the Office of Campus Recreation. Come learn all about intramural sports, club sports, Ole Miss Outdoors, Ole Miss Fitness, our recreational facilities and even employment opportunities through our department. 4

Study Abroad Union 405 Did you know you can study abroad for a week, two weeks, a month, summer, semester or year? And usually for the same tuition you would pay if you were in school on the Oxford campus. Almost 20 percent of Ole Miss students study abroad each year. Come see what all the hype is about! 3-3:35 p.m. Campus Networking Session C Various locations Please select one of the interest sessions below to attend. Transportation/Parking Services In this session, you will learn about all issues related to parking and transportation on campus. This includes vehicle registration, parking-rules enforcement, bicycles, campus shuttle service, and the ZipCar and ZimRide programs. Career Center Student Union 405 Do you think the Career Center is a place for seniors seeking jobs? Well, you are right, but it offers much more. The Career Center works with freshmen too, helping them to discover their interests, choose a major and find a job or internship. Additionally, its staff helps build your resume and will even take you through mock interviews so that you are prepared when the actual interview day arrives. Come learn how to enhance your college experience with the Career Center professionals. 3:40-4:20 p.m. The Way to Pay at Ole Miss Financial Aid and Bursar In this session, representatives from the Bursar and Financial Aid offices will discuss everything you need to know about scholarships, loans, grants, work-study opportunities, MESG, prepaid tuition plans (from all states), billing, full costs of attendance, the monthly bursar bill students receive and more. 4:25-4:45 p.m. Ole Miss Send-off We hope you enjoyed your orientation! Come to our send-off for an official goodbye from the orientation leaders and staff members. 5
