Summer 2012 Dear Students and Parents: The weather is warming up and so is Educational Talent Search! We have several activities planned for you summer, including several college tours and preparing for the SAT and ACT. We hope you join us and participate in these opportunities for your future. We encourage you to not only participate in our summer activities, but also to meet with one of our advisors, Kathalyn Nute or Keith Brown. They can help you with selecting your classes for next year, what colleges/universities will be looking for on your high school resumes, and much, much more. Please take advantage of their knowledge, expertise, and willingness to help you prepare for what s ahead next year. As a reminder, you must meet a minimum number of contacts per year. Note the contacts reminder below. MINIMUM NUMBER OF CONTACTS REMINDER!!! 7-10th s required minimum of 6 contacts per year 11th required minimum of 8 contacts per year 12th required minimum of 10 contacts per year Examples of contacts include attending workshops, meeting with your advisor, community service activities and attending TRiO sponsored events. Students who meet contact requirements are eligible to receive fee waivers, attend trips and continue to receive valuable academic advising until graduating from high school. If you are unable to attend an activity or event, it is YOUR responsibility to schedule an appointment with your advisor to meet the contact requirements. Students who fully participate in the program also have a higher success rate of entering college immediately after high school. Additionally, we want to congratulate the Class of 2012 and the graduates taking the next step to a higher education. Completing high school is just the beginning of your potential and we hope you allow us to continue to help you on journey to a better tomorrow. In our efforts to assist our Educational Talent Search Alumni, we have implemented a Staying Connected program where we maintain a relationship with you throughout your college career.
