Mission & Impact Statements Mission We exist to equip physicians in resource-limited settings with ultrasound equipment & the knowledge to image at the bedside to help provide more effective care to their patients. Background The Global Sounds board is primarily comprised of physicians. We have seen ultrasound transform our care of critically ill patients. We have also seen physician performed point-of-care ultrasound transform health delivery as a whole in resource-limited health care systems. After having seen it's effectiveness with a donated machine in Guyana, we then were unable to find organizations willing to provide further machines. We would like to fill that void. A single intervention of introducing an ultrasound machine with a short training course (and further continuing education materials) has the power to transform health care delivery in these settings and save lives. Impact In 2017, Global Sounds has delivered an ultrasound machine to the maternity ward at Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana. This year we have also delivered an ultrasound system to the Accident & Emergency Department in New Amsterdam, Guyana. Our next goals are to raise $15,000 to deliver a high quality portable ultrasound machine to St. George's General Hospital in Grenada by December 2017. The machine will be delivered and accompanied by an educational course for the physicians working in the emergency department at St. George's. Needs 1. $15,000. We need approximately $12,500 to purchase an ultrasound system with at least two probes. The further funds will help with the delivery and education/educational materials to use the machine. 2. Partners. We are looking for educational partners to join us in the movement to improve healthcare in resource-limited settings, especially focused on point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) education. We are also looking for partners to help contribute ultrasound equipment.
