II. consultation, coaching and qualification Objectives Initial consultancy Development Center workshop to present and discuss the business idea within a group of founders and experts Analyse specific consulting and coaching needs Individual coaching and assistance for drawing up the business plan Individual coaching through selected external experts Explanation of intercultural questions and regulations of German residential permission (business mentoring service for migrants ) Co-working spaces (entrepreneurship laboratories for young people) Advice on other funds, financing Networking 9

II. consultation, coaching and qualification Project Innovationen brauchen Mut (IbM) 2014-2017 (project innovations need courage ) Business mentoring service for innovative start-ups and enterprises promoted by the Brandenburg Economic Development Board (ZAB). Project focus: ü promotion of enterprises outside of HEI s ü promotion of enterprises within HEI s and science institutes including mentoring and support for EXIST fellows ü promotion of enterprises by international academics (from EU and non-eu countries) approx. 2 million (ESF, Brandenburg) Goal: support 167 innovative enterprises in the start up-phase 10

II. consultation, coaching and qualification Initial meeting, screening and pre-coaching Consulting and coaching through selected external experts Introduction of financial support, networks and other start-up conditions For academics without German citizenship: explanation of intercultural questions and regulations of German residential permission Information and support for the use of promotion possibilities relevant to the financing, location selection, networking and internationalization 11

III. financing Gründung innovativ (common legislation) grant programme for innovative enterprises in Brandenburg in the start-up phase (max. 3 ys. after business creation or succession), funded by ERDF and promoted by ILB (investment bank of Brandenburg) and ZAB volume: 1 million annually for approx. 10 enterprises grant between 25.000 and 100.000 for investments (e.g. machines) and non-investive activities including personnel expenses for new jobs and expenses for technical developments, patents, consulting At the moment very high demand (35 enterprises per year), financial volume increased 12
