Proceedings conducted for the sale, on His Majesty's account, of 125 head of orejana bovines from the crown land pastures of El Cuchillo, El Carriso, and Los Nogales, to FranCcis]co Arocha, a resident of this villa of San Fernando and presidio of CSan Antonio de7 Bexar, at 20, reales for each head three years old, at 16 for those two years old, and at 8 reales for those one year old, considering those male and female calves dead which were at the mother's side; which number of head are worth 282 pesos, which CsumJ has been introduced into the chest designated for deposit of capital gained from fees for taking orexana cattle and mustang horses; wherefore CArocha7 is given the corresponding permit to export them to wherever he deems most suitable. //'r CBlankl
[Cross] [I], Francisco Arocha, a resident of this presidio of San Antonio de Bexar and villa of San Fernando, do appear before Your Lordship and state [the following:] Finding it necessary to make up a herd of one hundred fifty head of orexano cattle on the pasture lands of El Cuchillo, CE1] Carriso, or [Los] Nogales de Guadalupe, I am prepared to purchase them from His Majesty at the prices which Your Lordship specifies to me and, when Cthe herd] is assembled, to export.it to the province of Coahuila or to wherever I am pleased [to export them]_; wherefore I beseech Your Lordship to deign to assent to my petition on the terms I have proposed and to specify to me all such circumstances which must precede the effecting of my wishes. Decree [Whereas the above petition has been duly] presented, CArocha] is to be granted permission to catch and acquire as many orexano bovine cattle as he can on the pasture lands of El Cuchillo, CEl] Carriso, or Los Nogales, which are crown lands, with the exact stipulation that as soon as he has made up his herd, he is to bring it to a place near this presidio, so that I may send a person to inspect and count the said cattle in order to secure payment of the twenty reales a head for each bull or three-year-old cow. For each head of cattle two years old he shall pay two pesos, for each head which is one year old Che shall pay] one peso, and each male.or female calf nursing at its mother's side he shall be given as dead. And as soon as the.commissioner whom I shall name brings the record of inspection of the number and kind of bovine cattle which CArochaJ has acquired, formation of an account of their value at the assigned prices shall proceed. He shall pay that amount immediately and without asserting any other right. He shall be given the permit so that he may export Chis cattle7 to the places which he deems most suitable. .[Cross] Senor Governor and Commandant of Arms of this Province: Domingo Peres, second sergeant of the troops de cuera of the cavalry company of this presidio, discloses to Your Lordship that, in obedience to the order and commission which you deigned to confer on, him, he travelled to the ranch of SCa]n Rafael, where FranCcisJo Arocha presented before,him in the corrals thereof all the ore j ano bovine cattle which.he had caught on the crown land pastures of El Cuchillo, CE13 Carriso, and Los Nogales by virtue of the permit which Your Lordship deigned to grant him. CPeres] inspected Cthe cattle7, counted [them, and determined] their type and quality; they are as follows: First,.one hundred head at three years old and upwards. Seven more, each two years old. Eighteen more, each one year old. The total number amounts to one hundred twenty-five head, of the types and qualities specified. No concealment has occurred, for there is no other place where[the cattle] could have been kept.
