UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES SCHOOL OF MEDICINE DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL MEDICINE AND THERAPEUTICS CoEHM Project Positions The University of Nairobi, through CoEHM Project (2016-2021), College of Health Sciences, has received funding from the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to support and implement high quality, equitable, sustainable and comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment and support in Kenya. To achieve this objective, the Project seeks to fill the following positions; 1. Project Doctor (Paediatrics) 1 Post Location: Nairobi (Clinical 75%, Program Support 25%) The successful candidates will be involved in providing higher level PMTCT and paediatric care and treatment services, training, mentorship, support supervision and quality improvement among other technical responsibilities. Key roles and responsibilities will include; Provide technical support in the design and delivery of advanced paediatric and adolescent HIV care and treatment services. Provide advanced level paediatric HIV care and treatment services. Training/mentorship of other healthcare providers in aspects of paediatric and adolescent HIV care and treatment. Program support roles as will be assigned. Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and MMed (Paediatrics and Child Health) degrees from a recognized university and registered with the Kenya Medical and Practitioners and Dentists Board with a valid practice license. Those who have prior work experience in the field of HIV programming within the public sector will have an added advantage. Computer literacy is desirable. 2. Project Doctor (Internal Medicine) 1 Post Location: Nairobi (Clinical 75%, Program Support 25%) The Project Doctor (Internal Medicine) will be involved in providing high level adult and adolescence care and treatment, leadership, training, mentorship and quality improvement among others. Key roles and responsibilities will include; Provide technical support in the design and delivery of advanced level HIV prevention, care and treatment services. Provide advance/tertiary level HIV treatment services. Mentor/train other healthcare providers in aspects of HIV medicine Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor or Surgery (MBChB) and MMed (Internal Medicine) degrees from a recognized university and registered with the Kenya Medical and Practitioners and Dentists Board with a valid practice license. Candidates must have at least three (3) years working experience in the field of public sector HIV programming.
3. Quality Improvement (QI) Coordinator 1 Post The QI Coordinator will lead and coordinate the planning and implementation of quality improvement program activities at service delivery points. The ideal candidate will have a master s degree in clinical nursing with evidence of training in quality improvement. 4. Senior Accountant 1 Posts The Senior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining a high standard of accounting and financial control including overseeing processing and documentation of all transactions and supporting period end processes of the project. Key roles and responsibilities will include; Act as the lead person for all financial matters and will be expected to liaise with the technical team and other members of the finance department concerning all financial issues. Manage projects accounting and financial systems ensuring appropriate controls and reporting structures are maintained in accordance to institutional and donor financial rules and regulations. Review finance needs on a regular basis and make recommendations for changes to ensure best practice and provide regular capacity building of finance skills to all existing and newly recruited staff. Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly reports and expenditure plans ensuring clear internal audit trials as well as the preparation/maintenance of accounts for external audits. Work with the head of project and technical staff to develop and coordinate the annual work plan and budgeting process in compliance with donor regulations. Ensure compliance to donor requirements, policies and procedures. Advise and implement any changes/developments in donor/government policies, statutory and legal requirements. Oversee financial aspects of sub-grantee contracts. Coordinate project financial audits. 5. Accountant 1 Post Applicants must be qualified accountants with at least CPA-K and a bachelor s degree in accounting, management, economics or finance. They must also have three (3) years experience working in either donor funded projects or a large NGO or public sector. Candidates are required to have information technology skills and be proficient in computerized accounting. This position will require the ability to supervise, excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should have high level of integrity and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams of professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Planning and implementation of sound accounting systems. Maintain proper books of records and ensure that the established internal controls are adhered to. Development and training accounting staff. Manage projects accounting and financial systems by ensuring that appropriate control and reporting structures are maintained in accordance with the grantee and donor agency financial rules and regulations. Coordinate use of field resources. 6. Medical Officer - 1 Post The applicants should be holders of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from recognized institutions and at least 5 years' experience on clinical HIV management or HIV prevention, care and treatment programming in the public sector or a large private sector selling. The successful
candidate will coordinate hub-based technical assistance and capacity strengthening activities in the central Kenya region. 7. Clinical Laboratory Associate (Molecular and Infectious Diseases Diagnosis) - 2 Posts Applicants should be in possession of a minimum of a Master's degree in molecular biology/virology/genetics or microbiology with a minimum of 3 years 'experience in a busy clinical laboratory. Applicants with a HND in molecular technology and 5 years' experience in a busy clinical laboratory will also be considered. Those with additional certification in GCLP and/or laboratory quality management systems will have a distinct advantage. 8. Strategic Information Assistant - 3 Posts Applicants must have a minimum of C-plus at KCSE and should be in possession of a Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics/Information Science (BIT) from a recognized institution; experience working with DHIS2 and knowledge of PEPFAR reporting requirements. Applicants with training in health records, information technology, and knowledge of SPSS, Epi Info or Stata will have a distinct advantage. 9. Clinical Laboratory Assistants - 2 Posts Applicants should be in possession of a bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology/science/biochemistry with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a busy clinical laboratory and should be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians Board (KMLTTB); and be computer literate. Applicants with a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and 5 years' experience in a busy clinical laboratory will also be considered. Those with additional certification in GCLP and/or laboratory quality management systems will have a distinct advantage. 10. Clinical Officers - 2 Posts Applicants must be in possession of a minimum of a diploma in clinical medicine with training, knowledge and skills in paediatric/adult ART management and/or counseling with 2 years working experience in HIV care & treatment. Office Assistant - 1 Post Applicants must be holders of a minimum of KCSE certificate with a D +. They should have good communication and inter-personal skills and at least 1 year experience in a similar position. UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI College of Health Sciences School of Medicine Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics CRISSP PLUS Project Positions The University of Nairobi, through CRISS Plus Project (2017-2022), College of Health Sciences, has received funding from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to support the expansion of HIV prevention and treatment services towards epidemic control in parts of Central Kenya. The University intends to use part of these funds to recruit and deploy high caliber healthcare professionals and support staff. 1. Associate Director Programs 1 Post Location: Nairobi The Associate Director Programs will provide overall technical (clinical) and programmatic leadership to hubbased technical assistance teams. Key responsibilities will include: Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and Master's degrees from recognized institutions; and be registered with the Medical Practitioners' and Dentists' Board with a valid practice license. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years' experience in HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment Programming within the public sector or large NGO/donor environments and demonstrate experience presenting health systems issues to public health policy makers and development partners. In addition, they should possess superlative oral, written communication and computing skills. 2. Service Delivery Technical Advisor & TA Team Lead 1 Post The Service Delivery Technical Advisor & TA Team Leads will be responsible for coordination of the activities of the TA Hub responsible for supporting delivery of quality, accessible and comprehensive HIV prevention, care, treatment and support in partnership with the county health departments. Ideal candidates should have a minimum of MBChB degree from a recognized institution and be registered with the MPDB and at least 3 years experience in HIV programming. Those with health systems related qualifications (public health, health systems management, epidemiology ect) will have an added advantage. Evidence of training in aspects of HIV Medicine will be required. 3. PMTCT /Paediatric/ Adolescent HIV Coordinator 1 Post The successful candidate will be part of a TA Team to support PMTCT, paediatric and adolescent HIV prevention, care and treatment services. Applicants should be holders of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a Diploma in Clinical Medicine with additional training in child or reproductive health. They should have at least two years work experience working in paediatric HIV/PMTCT, TB/HIV, MCH or ART Evidence of computer literacy will be desirable. 4. Quality Improvement Coordinator - 2 Posts The QI Coordinator will be responsible for development and implementation of quality improvement systems, protocols and procedures across program areas including establishment of quality improvement committees and teams and quality improvement plans. The successful applicant will be expected to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with postgraduate qualifications in public health. Strong candidates with Diploma in nursing/ clinical medicine with HND in epidemiology or public health will be considered. Successful candidates will have at least 3 years experience in HIV programming and superior written and oral communication skills and be computer literate with evidence of ability to use statistical packages. 5. Community Based Prevention & Treatment Support Coordinator - 1 Post The holder of this position will, among other responsibilities and in partnership with the counties develop and implement high quality community based prevention and treatment support interventions in line with the community strategy, develop appropriate information systems and monitoring protocols for
community based prevention and treatment support interventions, and provide technical assistance for the development of training, mentorship and support supervision tools, protocols and materials to support implementation of the community strategy. The successful applicant will have a minimum of Bachelor's degree in nursing with at least 3 years relevant experience or a Master's degree in medical social work, Public Health or medical anthropology with at least 3 years relevant experience in HIV/AIDS programming. Applicants will be expected to have strong written, oral communication, facilitation and managerial skills as well as be computer literate 6. TB/HIV Services Coordinator -3 Posts Location: Kiambu/Kirinyaga The TB/HIV coordinator, working in close collaboration with the CTLC, will provide technical assistance for the implementation of TB/HIV collaborative activities. The ideal candidate must be in possession of a minimum of a diploma in clinical medicine with expertise in TB/HIV diagnosis and knowledge of treatment and/ or counselling. In addition, they must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be computer literate. Candidates with master's qualifications in public health will have a distinct advantage. 7. HTS Coordinator - 2 Posts Location: Kiambu/Kirinyaga The successful candidate will be in possession of a BSN degree from a recognized institution with at least 3 years progressive experience in HIV programming and training. The holder of this position will be required to coordinate HIV Testing Services and referral for linkage with the objective to improve access to comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment at all levels of the health delivery system. 8. Strategic & Management Information Specialist 1 Post Applicants must have a minimum of Master's Degree in Information Science and at least 3 years' experience in developing and deploying tools for technical and management information collection, categorization, storage, analysis transfer and dissemination. 9. SI Associate -1 Post Applicants must have a minimum of C- plus at KCSE and should be in possession of a Bachelor s degree in Biostatistics/Information Science (BIT) from a recognized institution; and at least 2 years work experience in in health records and information management in a healthcare environment. 10. Drivers 1 Post Location: Kirinyaga Applicants should be holders of at least a KCSE certificate or an equivalent qualification. He/She must be in possession of Class B, C and E Driving License and a PSV certificate. Not less than 5 years continuous driving experience. He/She must have good communication skills in English and Kiswahili, both oral and written and have good interpersonal skills. Knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics will be an added advantage.
