Shop Manager Job Description Job Summary: Responsible for the effective day to day management of the shop and to ensure the shop s sales performance is maximised by actively seeking ways to improve the shop s performance on a continuous basis. Main Tasks: 1. Provision of effective management of the shop in order to maximise sales targets; maximise Gift Aid sales and donations; and to positively promote the shop. 2. Motivate, manage and support all shop staff and volunteers in the achievement of satisfactory performance and key targets. 3. To encourage and demonstrate excellent customer service and to promote good practice within the shop, providing guidance, feedback and coaching to the shop team as required. 4. Manage all aspects of stock generation/collection/preparation/merchandising, ensuring sufficient stock levels are maintained at all times. 5. Responsible for cash handling, banking and associated administration, ensuring that the till operations are carried out in accordance with policies and procedures 6. To comply with the agreed policies and procedures particularly in relation to shop security and health and safety regulations. 7. To complete the required administration tasks to agreed deadlines. 8. To keep the Retail Manager informed of any concerns regarding non-compliance of policies and operational procedures and to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times. 9. To maintain a good standard of housekeeping in line with St Benedict s Hospice Retail s visual merchandising and office standards, to create an environment that is pleasant and safe for customers, shop staff and volunteers. 10. To present a professional and positive image to customers, staff and volunteers at all times and acting as an ambassador for the charity. NB. The aim of the Charity and its Retail operation is to raise funds that enhance, compliment and expand the service provision offered. Based in Ryhope in Sunderland in a modern state-of-the-art facility, the centre provides palliative care services to people from Sunderland and District who are living with a range of life-limiting conditions. The clinical care at St Benedict s Hospice & Centre for Specialist Palliative Care is funded and managed by the NHS through South Tyneside Foundation Trust and is supported by St Benedict's Hospice Charity who provide funding to enhance these services.
