INTEGRATED WORK 3. Course 2012/13 In a context of constant changes is essential that students acquire skills that allow them to learn throughout life. Actually, for practical reasons there is an urgent need to develop strategies to handle the large increase in information and knowledge in Health Science. Integration as a facilitator process of learning allows students to develop critical thinking, and be able to carry on the principles of clinical reasoning from now. From a pedagogical point of view, it has been shown that integrated learning increase the motivation to learn at the same time that facilitates interdisciplinary and active participation in the process, acquiring skills, knowledge and attitudes that will allow students to have an integral view of human being, culture and environment. Following this argument, this subject of 3 rd course of Nursing graduation has been designed and organized to integrate the subjects: Caring for elderly people, Mental health, Communitary nursing and Management of nursing cares and health services. Specific competences In the nursing ambit, be able to offer a technical and professional health care which is adequate to the health needs of the people being attended, in accordance with the state of development of scientific knowledge at each time and with the quality and security levels which are established in the applicable legal and deontological rules. Ability to undertake exhaustive and systematic assessments using appropriate tools and frameworks for the patient, taking into account the physical, social, cultural, psychological, spiritual and environmental relevant factors. Ability to answer the patient s needs planning, rendering services and assessing the most appropriate care programs with the patient, their caregivers, families and other health and/or social workers. Ability to question, assess, interpret and synthesize a range of information and data sources to facilitate patients decision. Ability to inform, educate and oversee patients and caregivers as well as their families. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and social groups, including those with communication difficulties. Provide and strengthen health and welfare of community members, whose lives are affected by health problems, risk, suffering, sickness, disability or death. OBJECTIVES Subject/ matter s learning objectives Knowledge of the main mental, physical and social changes placed in different situations of disease, as well as its translation into daily life. Identify factors related with health and environment problems, to attend community. Know, synthesize and interpret signs and symptoms of patients and take measures of

comfort and attention on symptoms-targeted patient and family. Know and draw up a plan for healthcare as well as brought forward social in front of elderly people and mental health problems. Design and plan nursing caring based on integral healthcare, which involves multiprofessional cooperation, the integration process and ongoing assistance. Assess the results of their activity with quality parameters. Know socio-medical assistance to elderly people and people with mental problems and their caregivers, as well as the presence in our society of unofficial organizations. Know the Health system. Identify the features of the policy role of nursing services and the management of caring. Know and be able to apply the techniques of groups management. CONTENTS Subject/ matter s contents To acquire the basic knowledge indicated below; but students will achieve other knowledge in relation to requests that situations show gradually during its development. - Caring plans in elderly people disorders and mental health disorders. - Programs and nursing protocols. - Informal networks of support to patients, family. - Health plans and healthcare networks. - Management of the nursing unit in the Health system. METHODOLOGY The teaching methodology will be adapted to several objectives described in the subject, as well as the learning progress. Professional lecturers will make conferences, so that methodology will be interactive education: with classic supports and audiovisuals, facilitating the maximum participation of students and encouraging reflection and discussion at the end. Methodology will be interactive, deductive and inductive in the sessions of group: for mediation of a case situation, students should take part in their own learning, working with the method based on problems and problem solving. Therefore, the cooperative work will be encouraged.

The assessment will be continued. Therefore, students have to make an integral and holistic plan of caring in front of a situation. Moreover, they should design an itinerary aimed at the welfare and comfort of the patient and family that afterwards they must expose. The activities in group will also be assessed. All the evaluation parts must be overcome to pass the subject.
