Think Tank for China 2017 The TT4C is part of the GLOBAL COLLABORATION APPROACH of the SGROUP The TT4C is intended to be a thematic network team that operates as a consulting and activity shaping expert group within the SGroup. The workshop in Lisbon on May 4, 2017: constituted the core TT4C expert group on an operational level made the TT4C visible @ the EU Chinese rectors conference created the opportunity for TT4C members to network with high level executives from the Chinese HE sector as well as the EC-HE branch focused on China and other universities with interest and expertise in China defined the list and content of activities for 2017/2018: a. Horizon 2020 & EU-China Co-funding Mechanism for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020 is fully open to international participation in all fields and areas. In Horizon 2020, the EU has upgraded the status of emerging economies (BRIC countries) including China, considering that they have established the critical mass needed to cooperate with the EU on an equal foot. This means that within the general openness of Horizon 2020 Chinese participants will now have to provide their own funding, and only in exceptional cases will receive funding from the EU. EU-China Co-funding Mechanism (CFM) for Horizon 2020: Up to 200 million RMB, or 28 million euro, will be made available annually by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on the Chinese side for the benefit of China-based entities that will participate in joint projects with European partners under Horizon 2020. On behalf of MoST, the China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC) manages the CFM operation (application, evaluation, grant, etc.). Grant Agreement of Horizon 2020 with the EC is necessary for the Chinese organisations to submit an application for the co-funding.
