AROUND THE BASES - Georgia Southern head coach Maggie Johnson picked up her first two career head coaching victories on Sunday when the Eagles defeated Mercer, 5-3, and 9-5. - Appalachian State s 3-2 victory over No. 23 Purdue was the Mountaineers first victory over a ranked foe in school history. - Georgia Southern s MacKenzie Williams first career hit was a grand slam. The four runs gave GSU its first lead of the game against Mercer on Sunday in game two of a doubleheader. - Western Carolina s Stephanie Beatty recorded her 85th career RBI this past weekend, which moves her into first place all-time in Catamount history. - Samford was unable to compete in its scheduled games last week. The Bulldogs game against Jacksonville State last Thursday was canceled due to poor weather and the team did not compete in, but still hosted, the Samford Bulldog Bash due to three members of the Samford team experiencing deaths in the family. 2009 PRESEASON INFORMATION COACHES PRESEASON POLL Preseason Poll (1st Votes) Total Points 1.
