This is a list of some of the real opportunities that are available in the Falkirk area. Some may not be available by the time you read this or by the time you are ready to volunteer, but they should give you a good example of the kinds of opportunities that exist locally. We ve got something to suit pretty much everybody. Please have a look at the list and then get in touch with us so that we can discuss in more detail some of the opportunities available right now which might suit you, your skills, experience and availability. You can call us on 01324 692000 or e-mail us at info@cvsfalkirk.org.uk Fundraising Volunteers An organisation is currently looking to recruit community fundraisers in the Falkirk area for their pin badge scheme. When you join the team of over 1,500 volunteers, who are crucial to the running of the pin badge scheme, the organisation will support you to place 1-5 boxes in your chosen area. To ensure the organisation follows charity fundraising regulations, the donations from the boxes will need banking every 4 weeks, and the pin badges will need topping up. This opportunity takes place across the Falkirk area and is open to those aged 18 and over.

Cycle Volunteer Bikeability Scotland is cycle training for schools. It is delivered nationally by trained volunteers, working with trained staff across the Falkirk Council area. Bikeability is normally delivered during the school day, but can also be run as an after school club, and opportunities for both exist. It is expected that anyone volunteering to become a Cycling Training Assistant (CTA) will be able to ride a bike, have access to a bike, and be able to travel locally to schools in their area. This opportunity takes place in Falkirk and is open to those aged 16 and over. Shop Assistant An organisation are looking for volunteers to join their energetic team. Volunteers will provide assistance to customers in shop and help with the building of furniture. They aim to give customers the best experience in their shop. Volunteers will be part of the team, learn about furniture and be able to identify the good stuff from the bad. Volunteers will be required to build, clean and sell furniture with the support of the team. Volunteers must be able to lift heavy objects. This opportunity takes place in Stenhousemuir. Gardening Volunteer An organisation are looking for volunteers to support their garden. Could you help create and maintain an innovative garden space for children and families to use? They are looking for a volunteer gardener to create a safe garden space and undertake garden maintenance for our family support centre. This opportunity is open to those over 18. Conservation Volunteer Looking for a chance to get outside on a regular basis and work with likeminded people helping to look after the beautiful Callendar Wood?

This group meets once a month to work alongside the Community Ranger on various conservation tasks. This is a new group that is being brought together to help with tasks within the woodland that need larger groups of people to carry them out. This opportunity takes place on a Thursday. Café Helper Café helpers are needed to help in the kitchen and also to serve tea and coffee and lunches. This organisation works in conjunction with Community Care who bus older people in Grangemouth and Bo'ness to the café, while this organisation feed and entertain them. The cafe normally feeds between 50-60 people each Tuesday and Thursday, so every volunteer is very special. This opportunity takes place in Grangemouth on Tuesday mornings between 10:30am - 14:30pm. This opportunity is open to those aged 16 and over. Play Volunteer Volunteers are required to organise games and activities for the children that attend this group. Other duties will include supervising particular children, setting up and clearing up play spaces, etc. Volunteers can take on any of the roles that they have the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to fulfil. This opportunity takes place across Forth Valley and is open to those over 18. Shop Volunteer An organisation are looking for volunteers to help in their charity shop on a regular basis. As well as the general day to day running of the shop, volunteers will also get the chance to meet some of the dogs the organisation has have helped in the past, as they like to visit the shop.

This opportunity is open to those aged 18 and will take place in Falkirk area. Recycle Volunteer This is an opportunity for you to make a difference in your own community and becoming part of a team who loves the great outdoors, care about our environment and who care about our wildlife. It is also a unique chance to be on the canal, on a boat, and off the canal. Volunteers will be delivering activities on and off the water to educate all on the impact of climate change, promote ways to reduce local carbon emissions including plans to get us all cycling, recycle and re-use waste, reducing fly tipping, compost our food waste and improve our local environment for the benefit of generations to come. This opportunity takes place in Camelon. Tour Guide Volunteer An organisation are recruiting volunteers to deliver walking tours around Falkirk s historic town centre. This would be a great opportunity for anyone who wants to develop their communication and presentation skills. Volunteers will learn about Falkirk's history, gain new skills and meet new people and keep fit. This opportunity is open to those aged 16 and over, and will take place throughout Falkirk. Advice Volunteer This is a peer support project run by the charity, Outside the Box. The idea is for people over 50 to chat to their peers about housing at regular pop up events throughout Falkirk.

A Housing Owl volunteer is a diverse role, and volunteers not be expected to know everything. They will not be providing any advice, only telling people about relevant organisations, sharing what works for other people and giving out leaflets. The volunteers' main aim will be giving people the confidence to deal with their financial affairs. They will be offered training by Falkirk Council and Outside the Box. This opportunity takes place throughout Falkirk. CVS Falkirk and District is a Company Limited by Guarantee in Scotland No. SCO85838.
