@VVRMC Issue 30 December 19, 2016 Twas the Night Before Christmas at VVRMC Twas the night before Christmas at VVRMC, patients were wishing their beds they could flee. Their nurses came running with meds and with love, not a one ever forgetting to put on their gloves. They fluffed up the pillows and helped ease the pain while charting their actions and keeping things sane. The patients were grateful, their hearts filled with cheer when their medical caregivers footsteps were near. Now Pharmacy! Dietary, Records and Lab! Come Radiology! Materials! ER and Rehab! On RT! Accounting! Admin and OR! By working together we can all go so far! EVS! ICU! PR and Laundry! All the departments of VVRMC. Let s all work together as one unity to provide care with the highest of premiere quality. With new mission, vision and a great legacy we are creating trust the community can see. Halt you, said the guard as she spied the old man. Stop the noise please, she said, As fast as you can. I m Saint Nicholas, said the red suited man with the beard, and these are my eight helpful reindeer you hear. We re have come to do nothing but bring gifts and joy to your staff and your patients we bring fun and toys. You ve all been so good in 2016 helping the old, infirm, the young and the teens. The work that you do is so awfully important you deserve some reward, my thanks and endorsement. You all work so selflessly and with such great care a few tokens of gratitude are the only thing fair. The guard unlocked the door and St. Nick hit the stairs lugging a sack filled with loot for the carers. He passed out the gifts and gave hugs with great cheer saying, Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year! Non-clinical departments were working hard too providing support for the many and few. The employees had helped many families in need happily doing a wonderful good deed. As the patients and staff enjoyed a moment of quiet there came from the roof the sounds of a riot. Security came running to see what was the matter and found an intruder making an enormous clatter.

Christmas Kindness L-R: Brenda Salas, Anna Esquivel, Jennifer Gandar, Alex Aguinaga, Mary Johnson and Carolina Pineda. Jennifer Gandar from the VVRMC Health Clinic took an idea her husband had to provide stockings to local children. The stockings were put together by Lewis Gandar and other soldiers in San Antonio to give out to the children. Our fabulous clinic staff ran with the idea as you can plainly see and the children were thrilled!

Values in Action Last week I was transporting a patient from admitting to the Cath Lab. I had the patient in a wheelchair and was trying to pull their personal heavy duty walker also. Carla from the Business Office (didn't get last name) came upon us outside admitting and offered to assist me. Carla went all the way to the Cath Lab and made sure I didn't require any additional help. Carla is a true example of VVRMC 's Quality and Unity Core Values. Thank you. Greg A. Phillips, MSHSA, RT(R)(CV) Interim Director Special Procedures Almost ready for Santa!

Many thanks to everyone who provided gifts, organized the event, nominated a family, wrapped gifts and donated gift wrap, ribbons and tape. Working together we can achieve a lot.
Grateful Families IT, PR, Education and Informatics joined forces for this Honorable Mention Tree. There are no losers when local needy families receive decorated trees for the holidays. We are grateful to our VVRMC Auxiliary who thoughtfully judged each tree and to each and every employee who had a part in decorating a tree.
