expectations, connecting students in programs at your site to other experiences at other district sites after graduation, etc.) ASE Teacher directly supports the Student Achievement focus area in our Strategic Plan by providing small group, instructional level-specific support and enrichment in all core academic subject areas for grades TK/K-5. VAPA Teacher/Science Lab Teacher/Library Technician support both Student Achievement and Social- Emotional/Engagement focus areas in our Strategic Plan. Weekly Specials for all Preschool Grade 5 students offer hands-on, highly engaging enrichment opportunities tied directly to new standards and 21 st Century Learning Skills, while also offering teachers time to meet together in grade level teams to collaborate re: instructional practices, formative assessments, data analysis, unit/lesson design tied to new standards, etc. Band Teacher supports Social-Emotional focus area in our Strategic Plan. Over half of our 4 th and 5 th graders joined band when we were able to resurrect it at both elementary sites shortly after Winter Break this year. The funding included in this Block Grant proposal will allow for the program to begin next school year in October and continue until its normal conclusion in late May. The equivalent program with Village also provides the opportunity for a joint concluding performance with students from both elementary schools, as well as band students from CMS and CHS. This, in turn, offers a great feeder program for the secondary levels of band, and a continuous and aligned Elementary Grade 12 instrumental music program for CUSD. 4. Describe the STEAM funding requests in relation to desired outcomes and goals of the CUSD STEAM Pathways. Please also note how CSF-supported STEAM programming at your site will connect to STEAM programming/pathways at other school sites in the district. Examples in our Block Grant Proposal include: VAPA teacher participates in K-12 VAPA Vertical Team, helps coordinate Integrated Arts lessons with CoSA teacher, coordinates Winter Musical and choir performances, etc. She and a fellow Strategic Planning teacher/member have also recently submitted a grant application to provide a Makers Space at our school that is closely aligned with CUSD s pending new DoDEA grant proposal re: arts integration and language arts. ASE teacher(s) provide small group math instruction to all grades Science Lab teacher provides science and engineering units of instruction to all grades and is attending an intensive NGSS training this summer. TRT provides technology support and training tied directly to Pathway goals, as well as to the recently developed and adopted CUSD Elementary Digital Literacy Scope and Sequence. Gr. 4 & 5 Band program is closely aligned with instrumental music instruction at other district sites and levels and is taught by CoSA instrumental music teachers. 5. In line with CUSD objectives regarding increasing VAPA programming district-wide, describe what specific VAPA-related programs you will be funding with CSF support at your site. (Please note: in the Site Funding Guidelines, there is a new requirement for a 5% minimum supporting a VAPA program at your campus.) As noted in several areas above, our Program Grant proposal includes far more than the 5% minimum required via its support of our VAPA teacher and Grade 4&5 Band teacher. 6. For 2016-17, what specific ideas do you have to further CSF s goals to increase community awareness of the needs at your school site and CSF support to meet those needs? As in the past, we will continue to post stickers in windows of instructional spaces supported by CSF, acknowledge CSF s support publically wherever possible (i.e.-principal s monthly newsletters, PTO meetings, School Site Council meetings, web site, etc.). We would also be pleased to continue the inaugural behind the scenes tour/lunch begun this spring for CSF donors. 7. For each primary program funded, the CSF Board of Directors would like an earned media piece three times per year. Earned media is a photo with a paragraph (may be written by a student in the program), a 30 second video showing something from the class or program, a piece of art or mural produced, etc., that our donors will find impactful. Please let us know who will be the contact for the earned media at your campus (may be one person or each instructor, names to be provided in August at the start of the school year unless known in May). The contact person for this would be our new principal, Tammy Marble. I will communicate this to her during our transition meetings together, as well as explain all aspects of the CSF Program Grant proposals, updates, funding elements, etc. S:\CSF Program Funding\2016-17\Site Completed Grant Requests\SS\SS_Site Grant Funding Cover Memo_2016-17.docx Page 3 of 3
