JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION Job title: Base: Accountable to: Term: Hours: Pharmaceutical Advisor SELDOC Headquarters, Norbiton (Hanover House, 76 Coombe Road Norbiton, KT2 7AZ) but you will also need to work from Dulwich Community Hospital, and will be required to visit bases and other locations in SWL and SEL. Group Medical Director Permanent contract with a 6-month probationary period. Part time 22.5 hours per week (3 days) but you will be required to work some hours during the OOH period (see section 10 below). Key working relationships: Internally Group Medical Director, Deputy Medical Director, CEO, Quality Manager, Quality Administrators, Chair of the Quality Committee, Director of Operations, SWL and SEL Regional Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders. IM&T Manager, duty pharmacists, HR Team, and Finance Team. Eternally 111 providers, Deanery, Business and delivery partners, eternal stakeholders and local medicines optimisation teams within CCGs. The post holder will also be the Pharmaceutical Advisor for SELDOC Healthcare Services Ltd, Access Medical Services Ltd (AMSL), and any other SELDOC related company. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Systems Management a) Review and monitor the systems for The safe storage and issue of prescriptions The procurement, storage and issuing of medicines Appropriate disposal of unwanted medicines b) Report to the Group Medical Director and the Quality Committee on any issue of concern about Medicine management systems which are not being operated in line with operating procedures Items issued from SELDOC labelled patient stock Items being prescribed on FP10 s, recalling prescriptions as necessary Any other clinical concern related to medicine management
2. Medicines Supply Develop the service specification for the eternal provider to supply stocked duty doctors medicines bags Develop the SOP for operational staff managing the duty doctors medicines bags Be the key contact for the eternal provider and manage queries and issues as they arise 3. Audits and Reports Undertake a range of audits as agreed with the commissioners and the Quality Committee to ensure systems are working appropriately as much as possible, and write up these audits as a report, to include planning and undertaking any required remedial or improvement actions Provide the Quality Committee and commissioners with written reports on any other required prescribing or medicines management related issues 4. Formulary Maintenance Work with the Group Medical Director and commissioners to review and implement the agreed prescribing formulary for use in the OOH, and keep the formulary under review according to current best practice and guidelines Work with the Group Medical Director and commissioners to review and implement the agreed formulary for stocked medications for dispensing from treatment centre/home visiting and keep the stock formulary under review according to current best practice and guidelines Undertake appropriate audits to ensure that clinicians are adhering to the prescribing formulary and prepare reports on the same as outlined above 5. Policy Development and Maintenance Develop policies as required by the Quality Committee to meet the needs of the service and requirements of CQC Ensure that policies are incorporated into the handbooks for operational staff and clinicians Provide reports and advice for the Board on relevant prescribing issues 6. Controlled Drugs Ensure that the protocols and policies are in place for the management of controlled drugs and complied with effectively Review the ordering and supplies system on a regular basis 7. Staff Management Assist the Group Medical Director to manage and lead the duty pharmacists, including on-going rigorous recruitment and selection processes and provision of continuous professional development and training

Education and Training Support the Group Medical Director and Deputy Medical Director to provide educational advice/events to duty doctors/pharmacists Support the Group Medical Director in preparation and analysis of prescribing data for the duty doctor/duty pharmacist balanced scorecards Review audit scores of the duty doctors/pharmacists and assist with providing educational support to those clinicians who are required to improve Work with the Quality Committee and operational staff to advise and provide training on day-to-day procedures. To support the operational manager(s) in providing targeted training and education in medicines management to members of staff 9. Accountable Officer Provide support to the Accountable Officer (as defined under the Misuse of Drugs Regulations) for the OOH provider 10. Hours Normally this will be 3 days a week, 7.5 hours a day, 22.5 hours a week, but this will be fleible in order to meet the service requirements. The PA will be required to carry out site visits which may require working in the weekday evenings (no more than once a week) and possibly some weekends. The PA will need to stay until approimately 9.30pm when GP or Pharmacist Educational events are held which are on average once a month. 11. New Business Opportunities Assist, as required with the co-ordination of developing new business and contracts including the production of PQQs, tender submissions and business cases, ensuring that deadlines for submission are met Provide support for projects as directed by the Group Medical Director 12. Corporate responsibilities Work as part of the Clinical Governance team to ensure a positive and productive team culture is maintained at all times. To attend all Mandatory training for the role as identified by the organisation To carry out the role in line with SELDOC operating policies and procedure.
