On June 26 th, prior to the food drive and Jr. Leaders meeting, we will have a 1 (one) mile run/walk open to all on the fairgrounds. Registration will be from 4:30-5:00 PM and we will begin at 5:15 PM. When you cross the finish line you will be showered with 4 -H green powder! It is non-toxic and easy to clean, but we would recommend that you bring old clothes. At registration, if you bring 5 nonperishable items of food (above and beyond what is brought for the club competition), your name will go into a drawing for either a tee shirt or sunglasses. We will draw at 5:00 sharp! Join us, your friends and club members for a fun start to the Tippecanoe 4-H Fair! Community Service Challenge Once again we are excited to challenge every 4-H club to collect food items for those in need in our area. This year we are donating to St. John s Food Pantry. We are also collecting pet food for a rescue shelter at Crystal Creek Kennels. In addition, we will collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Summer is a crucial time for these organizations to receive donations and they need our help. As 4-Hers, we are here to serve and help meet the needs of those in our community. As an incentive, 4-H clubs who collect the most amount of food (measured by weight) will receive pizza gift certificates. We will collect all food items at the Junior Leader Meeting on Thursday June 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the Home Ec Bldg.

These tags are 3x3 inches and are to be mounted on the lower right hand corner on the front of posters and display boxes. These nametags are available from the Extension Office or from your 4-H Leaders. Foam-Core Boards Available We have foam-core boards available for sale at the Extension Office. We are selling them for $3.00 with sleeve. These boards currently meet the size requirements for all posters displayed at the fair. Be sure to get yours now!

The text should include 2015 Tippecanoe County 4-H Handbook with your small signature somewhere on the drawing. The rest of the design is left up to you. Mount the picture on a piece of stiff cardboard and on the back include your name, address, 4-H club, and age. Drawings are due to the 4-H Office on the fairgrounds by Friday, July 25. Wolf Park Offers New Opportunity for Youth Beginning in late May, Wolf Park, located in Battle Ground, is offering a new program designed for young adults ages 13 to 17 who are interested in learning more about its resident animals, nature, conservation, and what happens behind the scenes at a non-profit animal park. May 2014 PAGE 9 2014 Fair Dates Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair July 19-26 Indiana State Fair August 1-17 Rule Reminder! Participation: Attendance and participation at 4-H meetings is highly encouraged as a part of the overall educational experience. However, attendance or participation at club meetings is not required for project completion. Leaders/ superintendents are responsible for turning in attendance lists by July 1. Rewarding 4-H members is encouraged. Local clubs may establish goals for attendance, exhibits, completion, etc. to meet the criteria established for awards, trips, activities or recognition as long as they do not conflict with stated county, area/or state policies. Clarification- a total of 3 meetings and/or workshops are required for any and all champions and reserve champions. It is NOT 3 meetings and/or workshops for each project. Clarification #2 meetings and workshops are defined as club meetings and project workshops (projects listed on enrollment form) sponsored and advertised by Tippecanoe County 4-H.
