The Prize is open to all Artists 18yrs and older, regardless of sex, nationality or artistic qualification. The contest intends to create a cultural event aimed at promoting the territory of San Pietro Infine and the enhancement of its social fabric, reverberating the essential role that art and culture in general have in enhancing the integrity and respect of our global community. The theme of the competition is Refuge. The Artists are invited to reflect on the meaning of the word refuge for example as a place where seeking and finding shelter, protection, asylum,
etc. They have to present a work of new realization that shows and expresses their personal idea about this theme in a contemporary setting. The competition includes: a selection of 20 finalists and the realization of an exhibition of their work, during which there will be the awarding of the first three winners. Only the 20 works selected as finalists will need to be delivered to the Foundation where the finalists exhibition will take place. The contest has the request of the patronage of the following: Regione Campania, Provincia di Caserta, Ept Caserta, Comunità Montana Monte Santa Croce. ART. 2 - Technique The works can be realized with technical and stylistic freedom on any support. Maximum size allowed is 50 x 70 cm (excluding the frame). ART. 3 - Jury panel, selection mode and Collective Exhibition The selection of the submitted artworks will be made by a qualified jury, composed of: Dr Giuseppe Vecchiarino, Mayor of San Pietro Infine; Antonietta Perrone, set designer, Professor of Art History; Sara Cancellieri, artist and foundress of the Cultural Association La casa di Schiele; Gabriella Chelina Cresci, artist; Leopoldo Pezzela, sculptor. The selection of the submitted artworks will be made by a qualified jury, composed of experts of the sector. Among all participants to the contest, only 20 finalist Artists will be selected, three of which will be proclaimed winners. The names of the finalists and winning Artists will be published both on the website www.rifugioconcorso.com and on the social network of the competition www.facebook.com/rifugioconcorso Only the selected 20 finalists need to frame their works. Framed works should be without glass and in a condition suitable, secure and stable for hanging. The 20 selected Artists(finalists including winners) will be asked to deliver their works ( by courier, post or physical delivery) to the Foundation Parco della Memoria storica for the final Collective Exhibition that will take place on Saturday the 2nd of April 2016 and will run until Sunday 10th of April 2016. The Award Ceremony of the first three winners, will take place during the vernissage of the Opening Day ( 2 April 2016 ) of the Collective Exhibition.
The shipping charges, for the delivery and the return of the works, are at the expense of the finalists themselves. ART. 4 - Prizes The overall winner of the contest will receive: 1) a cash prize to the amount of Euro 1000,00. The above said amount is to be considered as its net value, including VAT. It shall be awarded to the winner during the Award Ceremony. Beside the winning work will remain property of the Artist. 2) a recognition plaque and a night in a hotel for two people (breakfast incl.) on the day of the award. All 20 finalists ( including the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd winners ) will receive a certificate of participation. All 20 finalist works ( including the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd winning works ), shall have a group exhibition lasting for a period of 9 days at a selected venue at the Parco della Memoria Storica ART. 5 - How to apply Artists can only apply using the following modality: sending an e-mail to the following address: rifugioinfo@gmail.com containing: - the application form duly filled in in PDF format. It can be downloaded from the website www.rifugioconcorso.com on the page BANDO scroll down to find English version. - a picture of the work, in jpg-format with high resolution and the file size not exceeding 1 MB. - a copy of the payment of the entry fee. The entry fee is intended to cover the costs of management and organization of the event and is obligatory at 15,00 Euro. All taxes, bank charges and commissions on the aforesaid amount, shall be payed by the entrant and shall not be charged to the organizer. The registration fee is not refundable. ART. 6 - Steps and deadlines 12 MARCH 2016: deadline for registration. 19 MARCH 2016: announcement of the names of the 20 finalists and the first three winners. 20-28 MARCH 2016: days in which the 20 finalist artworks are to be delivered to the exhibition area of the foundation Parco della Memoria storica for the final Collective Exhibition. 2 APRIL 2016: vernissage of the Collective Exhibition and Award Ceremony for the winners and finalists. 2-10 APRIL 2016: days of Collective Exhibition of the finalist artworks at foundation Parco della Memoria storica. The maximum number of participants is limited to 600. Entries are considered closed to the achievement of this amount, regardless of the deadline. The organization reserves the right to change the given dates if needed and to notify eventual changes in time both on the website and social network ( Facebook ) of the contest. ART. 7 - Responsibilities The organizers will not be liable for any loss or damage, however caused, either in transit to and from the exhibition, or during any period of storage (including at the depot), packing or unpacking, installation, or in any period in which the work may be on their premises or in their keeping. The organization, although assuring the best care and conservation for the submitted works declines any responsibility for theft, fire or any damages to the artworks or people that could
occur during all the stages of the event. Any insurance request is to be made by the artists themselves and communicated to the organizers. The organization reserves the right to exclude from the collective exhibition: 1) works dissimilar to that presented in the selection process; 2) works for whatever reason, will not arrive in the expected delivery time: 3) works damaged or without functional elements for hanging, namely fastening and hanging devices for walls or frames, if provided. In this case the organizer does not accept the works in any way to make changes and validate the exclusion of them. After delivery, the work cannot be withdrawn during the whole period of exhibition/exposure. The withdrawal will take place at the end of the Collective Exhibition and no later than four days after. It is recommended to regularly check the website www.rifugioconcorso.com and the social network of the competition (Facebook) in order to be informed about all the updates and about any possible changes of these terms and conditions. www.facebook.com/rifugioconcorso ART. 8 - Agreements The decisions of the Jury are irrevocable and unquestionable. The awarded Artists have the right to renounce their prizes, but without asking to the organization any kind of compensation. In that case the prize will be re-assigned according to the ranking made by the jury. Each Artist gives to the organization, without any compensation, the rights of reproduction, exhibition, publication and communication to the public, in any manner and without exception, for their own work participating in the selection. The organization, while fully respecting the moral rights of authorship, will exercise these rights for all institutional activities of communication concerning the competition. The organization reserves the right to decide upon what is not expressly stated in this document. Each and every participant explicitly authorizes the organization to handle his personal data in accordance with Italian law ( 196/2003 ) The acceptance to participate in the competition shall entail the full and unconditional adhesion and acceptance of these Regulations.
