Spring Lake Park High School 2017 Academic and Scholarship Awards Night Wednesday, May 24, 2017 I 7 p.m. I Fine Arts Center

The faculty and staff of Spring Lake Park High School are pleased to present the school s 27th annual Academic and Scholarship Awards Night. Tonight we present scholarships to seniors from the SLPHS Local Scholarship Program. These scholarships will help students who are pursuing further education at 4-year colleges, 2-year colleges, technical colleges and trade schools. This year, the Spring Lake Park High School Local Scholarship Committee is proud and pleased to award more than $65,000 in scholarships to our graduates. It is only through the generosity of the many individuals and organizations in our community that have made these scholarships possible. The Local Scholarship Committee is grateful to all of our contributors for encouraging and financially assisting Spring Lake Park High School graduates in this way. This is a special night when we present academic letters to students in grades 9-12 and the 4th year Academic Excellence Awards to seniors. This honors and recognizes those students who have demonstrated superior scholarship in their classes. We are delighted that you are here and hope that this will be a joyous and memorable evening.

Spring Lake Park Lions & Spring Lake Park Schools Scholarship Foundation The foundation began with a large donation from the Spring Lake Park Lions to Spring Lake Park Schools in 1988 and 1989. Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws of the Foundation were completed in March of 1990 and the Certificate of Incorporation was issued May 1, 1990. The first meeting of the Foundation s Board of Directors was held October 24, 1990. The purpose of this foundation is to provide scholarships for Spring Lake Park High School graduates and to raise funds to ensure a future self-perpetuating source of income. The Spring Lake Park Lions continue to be the chief contributor to the foundation. However, since the 1998 fiscal year, the Board of Directors has actively solicited other sources for money. Presently, it is the policy of the foundation to award only the interest earned from the scholarship fund. This action allows the principle to continue to grow as new money is accepted. The Board of Directors consists of the following members with the Lions, school district, and the community each providing members. 2016-2017 Board of Directors Shelly Barrett Kelly Delfs Tony Easter Dede Hering Lori Higgins Norm Kelzenberg Jan Kugler Cathy Nielson Angie Shea
