You can sell the chances and keep the $20.00 or put your name on the chance stubs. The chance stubs must be turned in by October 14, 2011 which is when we will hold the drawing. The prizes are: 1 st prize $300 2 nd prize $200 3 rd prize $100 Students will receive their ID card and a CYO shirt which he/she is permitted to wear to gym class. Attached is the form to be completed by both the student and the parents/guardians. Please complete BOTH sides. No student will be permitted to attend any CYO function unless the registration fee is paid in full and the form is properly completed. If you wish, you can complete the form at home and send it into school prior to registration night (along with the registration fee) to the attention of Ms. DiMatteo in room #23. You can pick up the shirt and ID card at registration. A few reminders: We ask that the parents/guardians (or any family member over the age of 18) volunteer for at least one event throughout the school year. Attached is an explanation of each event. Any student who is not permitted to walk home from the dances (as indicated by the parent/guardian on the registration form) must be signed out at the end of the dance. We ask that the parents/guardians enter the dance through the door closest to the school yard (not the doors on the convent side). We also ask for their patience at dismissal as we are responsible for the safety of the students. HOODED SWEARTSHIRTS FOR SALE: This year we will be selling hooded sweatshirts. There are 2 stlyes royal blue with gold logo on top left chest and grey with navy logo on top left chest. We will have them on display at registration. The price is not yet determined, but will be by registration. All orders must be turned in by October 14, 2011. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Please continue to check our website throughout the school year for updated information. As always please contact a Board Member if you have any questions. Their contact information is available on our website. Christ the King CYO Board * * * PLEASE SEE REVERSE SIDE * * *

CHRIST THE KING CYO EVENTS FOR 2011-2012 (PARENT/GUARDIAN VOLUNTEERS NEEDED) DANCES: Kitchen help (prepare food such as fries, mozzarella sticks, tacos & cheese, etc. and sell to the students); Chaperones (make sure the students are behaving in an appropriate manner). We need both female and male chaperones so that we are able to enter both the boy s and girl s bathrooms to make sure everything is o.k. in there. Volunteers are needed from 7:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. BURGER KING LUNCHES & PIZZA LUNCHES: Burger King lunches are held one Friday each month starting in October; Pizza lunches are held on the six Fridays during lent. These lunches are a good fundraiser for CYO. Volunteers are needed from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to help distribute the food. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: This is a parish-wide event sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. It will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011. CYO is asked to man a booth where children pay to pick a candy cane off a Christmas tree. Sometimes they are lucky and receive a prize. Volunteers are needed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You do not need to stay for this entire time. In the past we have asked the parents to volunteer in shifts such as 8:30-10:30; 10:30-12:30; 12:30-2:30; 2:30-4:30. SCAVENGER HUNT: This event is fun for the students as well as beneficial to those in need. It is held on Friday afternoon, November 11, 2011. The students come to the school hall around 2:30 p.m. and must return by 5:00 p.m. Students (in groups of 4 6) are given a list of items to get from the neighborhood. Some items such as wash cloths, clean socks, tissues, tooth brushes, toilet paper, soap, cans of tuna fish, etc. are donated to a charity. Other items on the list are just for fun to see who can actually find such items (for example in previous years the students needed to get a picture of themselves with Sr. Trudy, get a pair of jelly sandals, get a Beatles album, etc). Each item on the list has a point value. Volunteers are needed from 4:30 to 6:00 to help tally the student s total. Volunteers also separate the items into separate boxes (i.e. toiletries, food, etc.). The group of students with the highest number of points will be given a prize at the dance on the same evening. CHRISTMAS SERVICE: This is a community service event for the students. It is held on Friday afternoon (December16, 2011) immediately following dismissal. As we have done for the past two (2) years, the students will make breakfast bags for Aid for Friends. Volunteers will be needed from 1:15 to 3:15. ANNUAL FUNDRAISER: Each year we hold either a Comedy Night or Bowling fundraiser. Plans are not yet finalized for this year s fundraiser but it will be held in January 2012 either on the 20 th or 21 st. SPRING SERVICE: Last year we collected items for troops stationed overseas. Students collected these items after each mass on a particular weekend. This was a very successful event last year so we plan on doing the same this year. Volunteers will be needed after each of the masses on the weekend of Saturday, May 19, 2012 and Sunday, May 20, 2012. FIELD MAINTENANCE: Volunteers are needed in the spring time to help get our softball fields in shape for the upcoming season. A definite date has not yet been determined. BANQUET SET UP & CLEAN UP: This is a fun filled free event for the students. Food and soda will be served. The date of this event is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, April 22, 2012. Volunteers will be needed to serve the food and clean up from 1:00-3:00.

C Y O SERVICE REQUIREMENTS SERVICE is a vital part of any community and that is absolutely true here at Christ the King. This year we are implementing the following requirements. Students will be required to perform 3 hours of service by December 2, 2011 and an additional hour must be performed between December 3, 2011 and March 9, 2012 for a total of four hours. Service events are: Clean up after dances 9/10/11 St. Vincent de Paul truck 9/17 and 9/18/11 Ladies Auxiliary Flea Market 11/11/11 CYO Scavenger Hunt 11/19/11 Christmas Bazaar 12/16/11 Christmas Service breakfast bags 1/8/12 take down Church Christmas decorations after12:00 mass 1/19/12 Comedy Night set up (if Comedy Night is not cancelled this year) 2/16 and 2/17/12 Basket Extravaganza set up 2/18/12 Basket Extravaganza Night 5/19 and 5/20/11 donation to troops collection after each mass Although this service event is done after the deadline for completing service hours we are hopeful that the parents/guardians will encourage their child(ren) to partake in this service event. We like to hold it on this weekend as Saturday, May 19, 2012 is Military Observance Day. Last year was the first time we held such an event and it was a great success. The only downfall was there was not enough student presence. Hopefully that will change this year. Student Service Logs will be available at each event. Students MUST sign the log in order to receive credit. Students will be instructed who to see at each event to sign the log. These are the ONLY service events that the students will be given credit for. Outside service will not be accepted as a CYO service event. Failure to comply with this service policy will result in the student s dismissal from CYO. NO EXCEPTIONS! As was done in the past we will continue to reward the top three (3) students who preformed the most service hours during the school year with a monetary award at the last dance of the school year.
