BUD AND MARY ANDROFF SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION 2017 This scholarship fund was established in 1996 through a grant made possible by Bud and Mary Androff. Bud was a physical education teacher and coach at Starbuck Middle School in Racine. He was well-known and respected throughout the state of Wisconsin as a basketball and football official. Mary spent her professional career as a teacher and guidance counselor at the high school in Union Grove. This is a $1,000 scholarship award that is administered by the Racine Community Foundation. It is intended to be used to help finance the cost of college education for students graduating from any of the following high schools: J.I. Case, William Horlick, Racine Lutheran, St. Catherine s, The REAL School, Union Grove Union, Walden III or Washington Park. The recipient should intend to study in the areas of education, physical education (ex: teaching physical education, sports medicine, recreation, sports management, etc.), and/or human relations (ex: counseling, psychology, social work, anthropology, etc.). The Racine Community Foundation will issue an award letter to the students selected with requirements that must be met in order for the award to be issued. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the college/university. Exceptional applicants may be awarded a renewable $4,000 scholarship, payable in $1,000 increments at the beginning of each of four consecutive academic years. The Recipient: Will have shown a demonstrated interest in the study of education, physical education, or the human relations areas. Will have completed the final two years of schooling at one of the eight high schools listed above. Will be accepted at an accredited college or university as a full-time student. Will be from the upper 50 percentile of his/her graduating class. Will have participated in and held leadership roles in extra-curricular school and community activities. Financial need is not an important consideration. Procedures: Deadline for submitting completed applications is April 3, 2017. Completed applications must be returned to the Guidance Department. The Guidance Department shall have the responsibility of mailing all applications to the Racine Community Foundation.
