FLAG DAY - Proudly fly your American flag on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. HAPPY FATHER S DAY Sunday, June 19, 2016 is the day set aside to honor fathers everywhere. President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. In 1966, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law which finally made it permanent in 1972. The staff wishes our Fathers, Grandfathers, Great-Grandfathers and Great-Great-Grandfathers a VERY HAPPY FATHER S DAY! GRADUATION CONGRATULATIONS go out to all of our children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will be graduating this month. Whether they will graduate from kindergarten, grade school, high school or college, our hats are off to them for their accomplishments! DRIVE CAREFULLY With the end of school this month, please be extra careful when you re driving. Children riding bikes and playing ball are sometimes preoccupied and don t take the care they should when riding and running in and near the streets. We, therefore, must be defensive drivers and look out for them. THE AMERICAN FLAG When freedom from her mountain height Unfurled her standard to the air, She tore the azure robe of night. She mingles with its gorgeous dyes The milky baldric of the skies, And striped its pure, celestial white With streakings of the morning light. Then, from his mansion in the sun She called her eagle bearer down, And gave into his mighty hand The symbol of her chosen land. Flag of the free heart s hope and home; By angel hands to valor given; Thy stars have lit the welkin dome, And all thy hues were born in heaven. Forever float that standard sheet! Where breathes the foe but falls before us, With freedom s soil beneath our feet, And freedom s banner streaming o er us. -Joseph Rodman Drake
