This is a major recruiting event in Visalia, California for districts in the following counties: Tulare County Kings County 2
The Teacher Recruitment Fair will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Visalia Convention Center. The Fair will run from 8:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Candidates who have pre-registered and are eligible will be admitted at 8:30 a.m. Eligible candidates will receive an invitation by email. 3
Approximately 25 to 30 districts are expected to participate in this event. 4
Eligible candidates include: Multiple Subject Teachers Single Subject Teachers Education Specialist Teachers Candidates who are verified to complete a Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Education Specialist Credential Program for the 2014-2015 academic year Candidates eligible for a Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Intern Credential 5
Candidates completing a university credential program must provide a letter verifying completion of program requirements before the beginning of the 2014-2015 academic school year. This letter must be included in your Ed-JOIN application. 6
Candidates who plan to enter a district or university intern credential program for the 2014-2015 academic year must provide a letter of eligibility from the intern program. This includes Multiple Subject or Single Subject Credentialed teachers who are seeking a Special Education teaching position. This letter must be included in your Ed-JOIN application. 7
Candidates who have not passed CBEST nor minimum required sections of CSET will not be eligible to attend the Teacher Recruitment Fair. CBEST and CSET website: www.ctcexams.nesinc.com 8

If you hold a valid Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist out-of-state Credential, you are eligible to apply to attend the Fair. Holders of out-of-state credentials may obtain a five-year Preliminary California Credential. For out-of-state candidates, go to www.ctc.ca.gov. 10

Once you submit your online application, you will receive an auto-confirmation email that your application was received. Your application will be reviewed by the California Teacher Recruitment/New Teacher Development Program staff. All candidates will be notified via email by March 26, 2014. 15

Candidates who pre-register by completing the online Ed-JOIN application for the Teacher Recruitment Fair by March 16, 2014, and meet all Fair requirements will receive an invitation via e-mail by March 26, 2014. 17

On-Site registration will be available the day of the Fair for those who did not pre-register. Candidates who do not pre-register but meet the eligibility requirements (see slide #5) will be admitted to the event after 10:00 a.m. 20
The doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for prescreened invited candidates. Go to the registration table when you arrive. YOU MUST CHECK-IN! Make a name tag You will receive: A list of participating districts A map of district booth locations Event staff will be available to answer your questions. 21
Make a name tag at the registration table Include on your name tag: First name and last name Credential/subject Be sure your name tag is legible and can be seen by district representatives. Wear it for the duration of the event. 22
Respect other s privacy during conversations Tell administrators briefly why you are interested in their district Ask for a business card from district representatives with whom you speak Establish eye contact, smile, introduce yourself 23
Go to the most important districts first Interview durations may be 10-15 minutes Watch how school representatives interact with candidates Become familiar with surroundings Relax! Districts may offer employment at the event 24
Remember to wear APPROPRIATE ATTIRE for ALL Job Interviews! Professional suits are recommended. 25
Individual interviews will be conducted by the district representatives. Shake their hands and present your resume packet. Be prepared for distractions that might occur as a result of other interviews taking place around you. As you are being interviewed, district representatives will evaluate and make notes for later reference. 26
Make notes about key names and information while the event is still fresh in your mind. Follow up with thank you letters to districts you spoke to at the event. Your letter gives you another chance to state your interest and remind the interviewer of your conversation. 27
