BE PART OF THE NEW ECONOMIC MOMENTUM IN CÔTE D IVOIRE INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR INVESTMENTS IN CÔTE D IVOIRE 29-31 JANUARY 2014 - ABIDJAN

THE ACCELERATION OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IS OUR PRIORITY Alassane Ouattara President of the Republic of Côte d Ivoire. Two years ago, Côte d Ivoire entered into a new era. Our country got back to work. We have made considerable progress in terms of governance, of modernizing administrations and institutional normalization. We designed the National Development Plan (NDP 2012-2015), the implementation of which enabled us to generate strong, sustainable growth and create wealth and jobs, particularly for young people. This plan aims to reduce the poverty rate by 50% by 2015; it provides for major sectional reforms in addition to a strong increase in the investment rate in our country, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, agriculture Today, we have a growth rate of 9.8%, with the goal of achieving double-digit growth by 2014-2015. However, we have greater ambitions for our country. We want Côte d Ivoire to become an emerging country. We want to become the hub of the sub-region, the gateway to West Africa, a market of over 300 million inhabitants. This ambition will be achieved through strong and long time relationships with the economic operators capable of seizing the opportunities created by growth. Armed with our potential, our expertise, our cultural diversity and our faith in liberalism, Côte d Ivoire is opening up to the world. The Invest in Côte d Ivoire Forum (ICI 2014) is part of this dynamic: work together to create more opportunities. If you are a business man or an institutional and economic operator, this forum is for you. We look forward to welcoming you at this important economic event. Alassane Ouattara President of the Republic of Côte d Ivoire.

Côte d Ivoire is also the second economic power of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and is the gateway to this large market of 300 million people. Fully focused on economic development, Côte d Ivoire s objective is to join the ranks of emerging countries by 2020. Within this framework, the National Development Plan (NDP 2012-2015) devotes nearly 22 billion USD to investment, of which 60% come from the private sector.
