Indian Cultural Center (ICC) www.iccofsj.org A Dream Becoming Reality! An ITA-CC Project 1

Objective To build a common social place for Indian cultural activities, bring our community together, and preserve our heritage. It will be adequate, affordable and centrally located for convenient use. An ITA-CC Project 2

Social Need for ICC Our own place for cultural activities. Available venues are shrinking for social events. Examples: lectures, religious events, community activities. Other sites may not be available for major fixed religious events. Supplement temple activities. A meeting place for all of us. Seniors and children. Activities for religious and social organizations. Library to house religious and cultural books. To preserve our heritage. An ITA-CC Project 3

Personal Need for ICC (continued) Available halls expensive and/or inadequate. Most of us have many occasions for celebration: Engagement parties and marriage ceremonies. Birthday parties. Anniversary celebrations. We need a place which is AAA (Affordable, Adequate and Available). Available to members of our community who cannot afford expensive commercial halls. An ITA-CC Project 4

History Number of sites explored for ICC. Almost made it with Berlin Site. Site was very attractive. Got almost all the approvals. Could not get the zoning board approval due to local community opposition. Many other sites reviewed after Berlin site. None of them good compared to Berlin site. Until The current site An ITA-CC Project 5

ICC Site On Route 73 N (Near Kresson Road), Marlton. Two miles south of Route 70. Across Target and Designer Court. In close proximity to most community members. In very safe neighborhood. Away from congested residential areas. An ITA-CC Project 6

Cultural Center Thoughts from many of us Almost all other communities have Cultural Center and we don t. Indian are second most successful ethnic community and still don t have our own cultural center. Many other areas, with smaller Indian community, have one and we don t. ICC will be useful to about 3,000 + South Jersey families. An ITA-CC Project 45
