This current information will allow our health staff to treat your child in the most efficient way and to ensure their safety in an emergency situation. FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL SPECTATOR INFO Friday September 7th marks the first Friday Night Football game on the newly built Wayland HS campus. Here are some helpful tips to ensure an enjoyable night of Wayland sports: HANDICAP PARKING - All handicap parking will be reserved near the varsity baseball field parking lot (towards the back near the field house). This lot is reserved for handicap, officials and police parking only. Signs will direct you to this lot. SPECTATOR ENTRANCE All spectators will be asked to enter the event through the service road entrance near the field house. (Also near the handicap parking lot) SPECTATOR PARKING All spectators may park in any lined parking space located on the school campus (Wayland Town Pool lot, front of school lot and field house lot.) Handicap parking lot will be reserved for cars with a handicap license or tag on their car.
2 [Type the document title] TICKET BOOTH The ticket booth location for the Millis-Hopedale game will be in the field house garage located at the bottom of the service road entrance (near the field house). Tickets will prices will be $5 for students/senior citizens and $7 for adults. AVOID We ask all spectators to avoid parking their vehicles along the bus/car lane curb. We must allow room for emergency vehicles to enter the campus without any impedance. The safety of our athletes depends on the travel efficiency of our Town of Wayland emergency health staff to aid them is cases of emergency. WAYLAND COMMUNITY FALL FESTIVAL On Saturday, October 13 th, SADD is hosting a community-wide Fall Festival on the high school softball field from 11-4. The purpose of this event is to bring the whole community together for a fun-filled day while spreading the message of SADD to Wayland. There will be donut-eating contests, pumpkin painting, music, and many other activities for all ages. One of our main attractions is a dunk tank, so we are searching for teachers from all Wayland schools to volunteer to sit in the dunk tank for a few minutes. We would appreciate all the volunteers we can get! TEAMS BASEBALL Wayland athletics department has recently hired Jared Walsh as the new freshmen baseball coach for the 2013 spring season. Jared had been an assistant JV coach to now Varity Head Coach Joe Cincotta. Coach Walsh will utilize his years of expertise to strengthen our player s development on the freshmen level. BASKETBALL GIRLS Wayland Athletics Department has hired HS Wellness Teacher Amanda Cosenza as the new freshmen girl s basketball coach. Amanda is a Worcester State College graduate who s experiences range from coaching at the Central Mass Basketball School, Holy Cross Basketball Camp and the Sarah Behn Basketball Camp. Coach Cosenza was part of the Worcester State basketball and lacrosse programs. We wish her luck this season. CROSS COUNTRY Wayland Athletic Department recently hired Tim Hilliard as the new B/G Cross Country Coach. Tim is an Associate Professor for the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences at Fitchburg State University. His coaching experiences are as follows: Head Boys Indoor & Outdoor Track Coach, St. John s High School: 2011-12 ** Head Boys Outdoor Track Coach, Holliston High School: 2011 ** Head XC Coach, Ursuline Academy (Dedham, MA): 2005-2010 ** Head Outdoor Track Coach, Ursuline Academy (Dedham, MA): 2006-2010 ** Head Indoor Track Coach, Ursuline Academy (Dedham, MA): 2007-2011 ** Strength & Conditioning Coach, Sharon High School (Sharon, MA): 2007 We are very happy to have this caliber type of coach to strengthen our already deep-rooted educated coaches in the Wayland Athletics Department. Good luck Tim! FIELD HOCKEY Wayland Athletics Department recently hired Coach Victoria Pappas as the new freshmen field hockey coach this season. Victoria is a Regis College graduate who is currently working as a teaching assistant at Happy Hollow School. Coach Pappas was the Regis College LIVESTRONG Day Founder and Coordinator & Captain of the Regis College Varsity Field Hockey Team. We welcome her into an already strong field hockey program and Wayland athletics family. 4 [Type the document title] INDOOR TRACK Wayland Athletics Department has recently hired Cross Country assistant coach Mary MacDonald as the new B/G Indoor Track coach for the winter season. Mary has been a vital part in the running programs at Wayland HS. We look forward to having her in the winter. Good luck Mary. LACROSSE BOYS Wayland Athletics Department has recently hired Joel Bates as the new Varsity Head Coach. Coach Bates was formerly the head lacrosse coach at Nashoba Regional High School. He led NRHS to two 2nd round playoff appearances in his first 2 years as coach. This was the first time in the programs history. Coach Bates is also the founder of Royal Lacrosse. We welcome coach Bates to the Wayland family and wish him and his staff the best of luck in his first season in the Dual County League. SOCCER BOYS Wayland Athletics Department recently hired new freshmen coach Connor Miselmen this fall. Connor is a Wayland HS graduate and looks forward to working in an a resurgent boys soccer program. We wish Connor the best this season. GIRLS Wayland Athletics Department hired new freshmen coach Melisa Kavaleski this fall. Coach Kavaleski was a varsity soccer player and captain at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. Melisa s experience involves being a program manager at the FORE KICKS SPORTS COMPLEX in Marlboro, MA. She coached on the WESTBORO YOUTH SOCCER and Wayland Middle School teams Melissa is currently a teaching assistant at Wayland Middle School. Melisa is a graduate of Wayland HS. We wish her the best of luck this season. VOLLEYBALL GIRLS Varsity coach Kristine Norrman and JV coach Mary Fritterer were excited to see their program numbers increase this season. It has increased so much that they created a freshmen developmental team for the 2012 fall season. Volunteer coach Denise Liep will be directing our freshmen team to compete against other DCL and non-league teams for program development.
