FAQ When did the project start? What is the budget form the EU? Why chose Chengdu as a location? Approved by the Asia Invest Program, EUPIC was established as a permanent organization in 2006 aiming at continuing the sustainable development after EU-Chengdu SMEs Business Matchmaking & Cooperation Incubation Event. The total budget for the project is 594 thousand Euros, and the EU contributed 56% of the total budget. The reason of choosing Chengdu is that Chengdu is the economic, financial and technological center and the transportation hub in the western China. It has become the most popular destination for foreign direct investment in Western China in recent years. Are all EUPIC s services free for EU companies and Chinese companies? The up to 6 month free offices are only offered to the EU companies, while EUPIC s other services are provided to both EU companies and Chinese companies. All the office facilities and daily services are free for the EU companies, however, the services like arrange business negotiation, exhibition, seminar, promotion event etc, will be charged according to the work time. Is there any sector limit for the incubating companies in EUPIC? Are all the incubating companies in EUPIC SMEs? The EUPIC office facilities are not open to the companies in all sectors. We mainly focus on the sectors of IT, Machinery, Environmental Protection, New Material, Pharmaceutical & Hi-Tech Agriculture. There are also big companies incubated in EUPIC. Their main work in EUPIC is to deal with the procedures of new company setting up, new offices fitment and staff recruitment. In general, their incubation duration is 2 to 3 months. Is it possible for the companies from countries in which there is no EUPIC partners to apply for EUPIC offices? We welcome all the EU companies to apply for EUPIC office, however, the companies recommended by EUPIC s partner will enjoy the priority to use the office. Is EUPIC project open to other new partners for participation in the future? If so, is it only open to the EU countries? Our projects are open to EUPIC s new partners, but only to the partners from the EU and the partner s role will be different from project to project.. 11
