Chairman Vogel introduced Bill Blackford, Boy Scouts Forty-Niner District Commissioner and Dave Deckart, Troop 399 Scout Master. Boy Scout members of Troop 399 posted the flags and lead in the Pledge of Allegiance. Chairman Vogel announced the date of meeting for the record. Clerk of the Board Lois M. Sahyoun called the Roll. All Board Members were present. The Minutes of the Board of Supervisors' Meeting of April 29, 2008 were not available to approve. Chairman Vogel stated that the last Board Meeting held in Lodi was during George Barber s term. SCHEDULED ITEMS PRESENTATIONS 6:30 p.m. - bos - Proclamation Proclaiming the Week of May 6-12, 2008 as "National Nurses Week" in San Joaquin County. Supervisor Mow presented the proclamation. Karen Knight-Frank, R.N., Clinical Nurse Specialist and Jacqueline Bagatta, Interim Deputy Director Patient Care Services accepted the proclamation and addressed the Board. 6:30 p.m. - bos - Presentation of Proclamation Proclaiming May 2008 as "Older Americans & Elder Abuse Awareness Month" in San Joaquin County. Chairman Vogel presented the proclamation to Wendy Moore, Deputy Director, Aging and Community Services, Human Services Agency. Ms. Moore addressed the Board. 6:30 p.m. - bos - Proclamation Proclaiming May 10-18, 2008 as "National Tourism Week" in San Joaquin County. Supervisor Ornellas presented the proclamation to Wes Rhea, Director, Stockton Conference and Visitors Bureau; Linda Abeldt, Executive Director, Manteca Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Nancy Beckman, Executive Director, Lodi Conference and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Rhea addressed the Board. 6:30 p.m.- bos - Recognition of Larson Elementary School and Julia Morgan Elementary School, Lodi Unified School District. Chairman Vogel presented a plaque to Cheryl Nilmeyer, Principal of Larson Elementary School, and to a plaque to Linda Kapic, Principal of Julia Morgan Elementary School. Mmes. Nilmeyer and Kapic addressed the Board. Chairman Vogel recognized the Distinguished School Writing Committee Members, Rosemary Kimber, 2 nd grade teacher; Angela Gatti, 4 th grade teacher; Susan Faith, Speech Therapist; and Amy Borland, 3 rd grade teacher. Chairman Vogel also recognized Catherine Pennington, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, Lodi Unified School District. 6:30 p.m. - bos - Recognition of Rodger Robinson, Participant in the Boston Marathon. Chairman Vogel presented the commendation to Mr. Robinson. Mr. Robinson addressed the Board. 6:30 p.m. - bos - Recognition of Lodi High School Speech Students and Advisor Jennifer Tillett of Lodi Unified School District. Supervisors Gutierrez and Ruhstaller presented the Certificates of Recognition to Lodi High School Speech students that were in attendance and to Advisor Jennifer Tillett. Supervisor Mow stated that he and Supervisor Ruhstaller have been working with Ken Cohen, Health Care Services Director and David Culbertson, SJGH Director. They will report back to the Board soon so that the Board will have an idea of what the issues are.
