Reporting the News and Happenings Around the Bobcat Villas January 2015 For the past couple of weeks, we've seen Hoovers' trucks around the community cleaning our tile roofs. These brave men have been crawling around our severely steep roofs to power wash off the dirt and grime created by the pollution, pollen and other junk in our air. We have also had guys working to prevent the indigenous rats of Florida from invading our attics. Service providers have shored up our lake, fending off water moccasins, alligators and other dangerous creatures that reside under water. People come in and clean out our dryer vents. Others tend to our lawns and gardens. Still others spray outside for pests and rodents. They clean and regulate our pool and eventually will paint the exteriors of our 110 villas. All this for just $270 a month! Priceless! Activities around the Villas continue, offering plenty of opportunities for everyone. Ever wonder who keeps an eye on the landscapers' efforts or how the various coffees, dinners and other events seem to go off without a hitch? Curious about the Villa Association's finances? Do you have any ideas for improving the community and not sure how to make your thoughts heard. Well, there are couple of ways. The first - join a committee! The landscape, finance, social and pool/clubhouse committees are welcoming new members. Contact any member of the Board of Directors to find out who chairs each one. The second way to make your voice heard is through the Suggestion Box, located in the hallway of the Community Center. Someone actually checks the Suggestion Box periodically and comments made are generally brought to the attention of the Board. Don't suffer in silence. Be a part of your community. Last month, we announced the resignation of Aaron Clagg from the Board and from his position of Board president. At the January meeting of the Board, Sue Mason
-3- was appointed to fill Aaron's unfulfilled Board seat. Also at the meeting, the Board members were appointed to the following positions: Lou Sperduto - President Scott Nyborg - Vice President Sue Mason - Secretary George Baillie - Treasurer Wayne Ross - Director In addition to the fun events the Social Committee has planned for Villa residents, this month there will be a program on pain management. Dr. Witford Reid, MD, an anesthesiologist specializing in pain management, will present a program on traditional and new treatments for taking care of those aches and pains that keep us awake at night or off the golf course during the day. The program is Friday, February 6 at 3:00 p.m. in the Villa Clubhouse. It is free to attend, but you must sign up on the sheet in the Clubhouse Breezeway. The Social Committee will provide light snacks. Join Maria Cicero on Thursday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. for Trivia Night. She has compiled a broad range of topics to test our knowledge of - well - everything! Attendees will compete in tables of four and the winning teams will receive prizes. The sign-up sheet will allow you to sign up as a team or individually to be assigned a team. There's a $1 entry fee and you can bring your own beverage. Make your calendars and now and keep an eye out for the sign-up sheet for the Mexican Dinner scheduled for Thursday, February 26 starting at 5:00 p.m. in the
-4- Clubhouse. A make your own taco (hard and soft shell) line, Mexican dip, Mexican rice and other appropriate specialties will be on hand for a dinner that will be muy delicioso! This will be a fundraiser for the Social Committee and the cost will be announced closer to the event. Speaking of fundraisers, the Social Committee has determined that funds raised this year will be used to re-stock supplies used during Villa events, to offset the cost some events and to treat all Villa residents to a spring BBQ Dinner.
