Dear AMLS Student, We would like to welcome you to the Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) course on; February 17-18, 2014 from 8 am-5 pm The course will be held at American Medical Response in Grand Rapids (see map). We believe that you will find this course to be an exciting adjunct to your current emergency medical education and will enhance your critical thinking skills and clinical abilities. The provider course is a dynamic 16-hour continuing education course designed to enhance the foundation of knowledge and skills for the healthcare provider of all scopes of practice in the assessment and management of adult patients with medical complaints. The course provides an interactive and participant-focused environment for case-based lectures. There are hands-on practical lab stations related to each of the lecture presentations to support the application of the concepts with realistic scenarios. We expect you to be familiar with the materials in the AMLS textbook. Unlike other educational courses of this nature, the text material is not reiterated in lectures. Rather, the information in the book is used in a practical nature through a series of case presentation stations. Individuals not familiar with the text material will have difficulty in successfully completing this course. Please also complete the attached AMLS Pre-Test. To successfully complete the course you must attend the entire course, participate in the exercises and scenarios as well as pass the AMLS written multiple-choice test. Upon successful completion of testing an AMLS provider card will be issued along with appropriate CEU. Attached is the planned course agenda; please review it for your start time. Please do not hesitate to contact me at AMR (616) 482-6638 should you have any further questions regarding this course. Sincerely, Jeff Trosper CCT-P I/C Education Coordinator jeff.trosper@amr.net
