Summer Institute for the Gifted 2018 Online Application for Partner Organizations and Groups SIG utilizes an online application specifically designed for our partner organizations and groups to assist in the coordination of student applicants and reduce the paperwork required on the behalf of organizers, students and SIG. All organization and group applications must be submitted online for 2018. Students (or the organizer on behalf of the student) will be able to apply online quickly using the process outlined below. The application fee payment page is bypassed for parners and groups. The $99 application fee will appear on the student s invoice. Any questions while completing the application please use the Live Chat feature on the right hand side of each page. Organizers should provide the following link to their applicants. https://secure.giftedstudy.org/sig/application/grouplanding.aspx Homepage The link will bring the applicant to the above page (more groups may have been added, look closely for yours). 1. The applicant selects organizer s name he or she is affiliated with and clicks on continue. Please be sure to select the correct organizer.
Page 1 1. Enter the personal information for the student in the upper fields. *Applicants must be consistent with the name fields on all documentation.* 2. Enter parent information in the Parent/Guardian section. A primary contact must be selected. This should be a parent / guardian who can be reached in case of an emergency while the student is at the program. For all other communication SIG will adhere by the Billing and Communication Form.
Page 2 1. Complete the school and eligibility information. For a full list of eligibility please follow this link: http://www.giftedstudy.org/eligibility.asp. If the student needs recommendation forms from their teachers, the form can be completed online by using this link: https://response.questback.com/isa/qbv.dll/showquest?questid=5018670&sid= nxadwynt5y. 2. If test scores or the recommendation forms are available at the time of application, he or she can upload directly to SIG by clicking on the Upload Education and Eligibility Documents button. If the student has already attended SIG, please select Other. 3. If eligibility documents are not ready at the time of application, they must be emailed to spitassi@giftedstudy.org within 2 weeks or the application will be dropped. *Please note: International students are also required to submit English proficiency documentation. A high level of English language proficiency in speaking and writing is necessary for students to integrate successfully into the SIG academic program.
English proficiency document can include standardized English language test scores (i.e. TOEFL or TOEFL Junior) or school transcript indicating a grade of an A or B in English courses. A Skype interview may be requested after review of English proficiency documents. Page 3 1. The applicant selects the type of program he or she will be attending (i.e. residential, extended commuter, commuter, full day morning, afternoon) 2. The student selects which program he or she will be attending. 3. Only one program location should be entered per applicant.
1. *The student selects program options such as Single Room Option, NSGT membership, etc... These can be added at a later date as well. 2. The release boxes can be checked if applicable. 3. A T-shirt size needs to be selected. 4. SIG does provide transportation services from the airport to campus and from campus to the airport. Selections and information will be made after acceptance into the program. * Groups and organizations should inform participants in advance what options are covered financially by the group and what may be the responsibility of the family. Page 4 1. The electronic acceptance of the agreement and release is required. If the organizer is filling out the application, the agreement and release should be printed and provided to the parent. 2. You will accept the document by scrolling to the bottom and selecting I Agree. 3. If the Cancel button is selected, the application will not be accepted.
Page 5 1. Courses are to be selected at this time by using the drop down boxes. First choices and alternates are required*. 2. If the student would like to make any changes to their course schedule, they can do so by logging into the student portal and clicking on the Course Selection section. Students may make course changes to their schedule in the student portal until May 1 st. 3. *Some courses have material fees. Please reference the catalog. If one of these courses is selected, the material fee will automatically be added to the applicant s invoice.
Page 6 1. The student s application is now complete. 2. The student or organizer should print a summary of the application for their records. 3. The primary contact or organizer, depending on communication preferences indicated by the group or organization, will receive an acceptance email once the application has been reviewed and participation has been verified with the group or organization. 4. The acceptance email will contain the student ID and link to the SIG student portal that contains important information regarding the program and allows the family to fill in supplemental information (i.e. roommate requests, transportation information, course selection, etc.). 5. More information on required medical information submission through Campdoc.com will be emailed out after submission. Completed medical information must be entered no later than May 15, 2018. Students who do not have completed medical information will NOT be allowed to attend the SIG program. 6. Students should NOT enter multiple applications. If there is a change in the information they need to submit, they can contact Stephanie Pitassi at spitassi@giftedstudy.org.
Once a student is accepted to the program, it is the parent or organization responsibility to log in to the student portal, supply the required additional information, submit the medical information and review all of the information contained in the documents.
