Lessons Learned The best urban environments come alive when the community s civic and commercial activities are addressed holistically Planning initiatives advance by favoring accomplishment When progress is made visible, consensus around progressive design is easier to achieve Contemporary initiatives need not obliterate history, even as they transform the land into a civic amenity Context both the natural and built - is as critical as the site Successful plans are those that correctly envision what is eventually realized by anticipating the needs of those who will build and occupy the finished project
