COMMANDANT S CORNER Marines, we had another good meeting last night. We had 21 members attend with a lot of new faces and other faces who hadn t been there for a while. We swore in three new members to the Detachment. They are Marines Wayne B. Cutts and Nicholas Tackacs and FMF Corpsman Gary Schmitt. Welcome Aboard Gentlemen! Everyone who attended our Valentines Luncheon at the Deerwood Country Club, had a great time. I heard from many that this was an excellent meal no matter what they ordered. To all other members next year include yourself and your loved one and have a great social meal with other Marines. We had the nomination of Officers for the coming administration. The following members were nominated on the first vote go round: Bill Bargerhuff, Commandant; Franco Cambria, Sr. Vice Commandant: Lyn Hunter, Jr. Vice Commandant and Don Mathews, Judge Advocate. Mike Rainbolt will again be the Adjutant and Paymaster and Jon Harpool will assume the Sgt. at Arms. Congratulations Marines. The MCL Leadership School was brought up. It will be Saturday April 1st this year. It will be held at the Sea Girt State Police Academy. We have 7 members on record attending this year s class and one of our new members said he would like attend. Bill Wilson discussed our 2016 Toys 4 Tots program where we distributed over 60,000 toys to over 16,000 children. He said he will need help from members since we still have over 1,000 toys received after Christmas still in his house. We will be moving them and the toys in Don Mathew s garage to a new storage container where our existing storage is located and your help will be greatly appreciated. The Rose Program for 2017 was discussed. I have confirmed with the ShopRite Stores HR Manager that we will have 8 events in the spring and 4 events in the fall. These stores are all set up for weekends, so members who are working during the week can take part with us. WAWA has made a change in our ability to get stores. We have only the month of June. Last year we did 7 WAWA s during the year, so, I have scheduled all 7 to be completed in June. I requested the Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday for each week in June. I will be sending out an email with all the locations in it. Be ready to take part in the program and pick the one s you want to work and email the list back to me with your choices. The Detachment will again take part in the Youth Physical Fitness Program at Colts Neck H.S. on 18th. We usually get there at 7:00am to help set up and spend the rest of the day judging the competition. Whoever wants to go please email me and I ll add you to the list. We have an Eagle Scout Court of Honor coming up. Bill Wilson and I will be attending. If anyone wants to see what the Court in about come out and watch. We will be at the Medford United Methodist Church at 2 Hartford Road in Medford. We have been asked to be the Color Guard at the Eagle Scout Luncheon on April 2 nd 2017 at Lucien s Manor 81 W.
