February Geotechnical Meeting Summary The Nebraska Section s Geotechnical Technical Group hosted the February meeting and presentation on February 6, 2014. The presentation topic was IHNC Floodwall Breaches during Hurricane Katrina and Recent Ruling. ASCE Outstanding Younger Member Award Joe Flaxbeard has been selected as recipient of the 2014 ASCE Outstanding Younger Member in Community Activities Award for Region 7. Joe is the current vice president of the NE-ASCE, but has served as the NE-ASCE Younger Member Group Co-Chair for the past 5 years. Joe works as a professional engineer for Lamp Rynearson & Associates in Omaha where he has designed a variety of projects from commercial site plans to large diameter storm sewer design as part of Omaha s CSO Program. In addition to the engineering responsibilities of his job, Joe co-chairs his company s Community Involvement Committee where he chooses community projects for Lamp Rynearson and organizes participation. He has also volunteered for events like Omaha Children s Museum s Itty Bitty, Nebraska Children s Home Society s Sand in the City, and the Nebraska Future City Competition. This is a much deserved award as Joe has been extremely active in the ASCE and his community. Congrats to Joe Flaxbeard

Additional information will be provided later, but early registration is open at: http://netranscon.eventbrite.com Habitat for Humanity Build The Nebraska Section will be doing a Habitat for Humanity Omaha work day on Saturday April 12, 2014. We would like 12 to 16 NEASCE Members to help set floor trusses and place floor decking. More information coming soon. Annual Meeting The ASCE Nebraska Section Annual Meeting will be held on May 8th. Look for more information on the annual meeting in upcoming months.
