About this Seminar MRI technology and its clinical applications have expanded rapidly in recent years. As a result, the need for competent MRI technologists has increased accordingly. The safety of patients, family and staff in MRI is a primary concern. Hence, it is critical that the MRI technologist be well trained in MRI safety. This seminar offers comprehensive coverage of MRI safety and covers the ACR and Joint Commission standards. About the Speaker Mark Smith, MS, RT(R)(MR), ABMP Mark is a MR physicist in the Radiology Dept. at Nationwide Children s Hospital and adjunct faculty at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Mark has over 25 years of experience as both a MR technologist and MR physicist. Mark is involved in MR research, MR protocol optimization, ACR accreditation, MRI safety and education. He also lectures nationally on MRI safety topics to the medical industry.
Educational Objec- At the conclusion of this seminar, attendees will be able to: Identify and differentiate the three categories of MRI safety concerns for patients, family and staff. Identify and differentiate the four zones of a MRI department or suite, as recommended by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Understand and implement proper MRI safety policy and screening procedures as recommended by the ACR and the Joint Commission.
