The ACSM FIG Forum FIG Congress Student Fellowship This is the first time for this prestigious award. It is sponsored by the three ACSM Member Organizations that participate in the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) AAGS American Association for Geodetic Surveying GLIS Geographic and Land Information Society NSPS National Association of Professional Surveyors This fellowship award provides full funding for the Fellow to travel to, attend, and participate in 2010 FIG Congress being held in Sydney, Australia and is an exceptional opportunity to participate at the preeminent international surveying conference, network with surveyors, fellow students and young surveyors from around the world while living with a local surveyor/student family during the Congress. WHAT IS INCLUDED? The ACSM FIG Forum FIG Congress Student Fellowship includes: Round-trip economy class transportation from home airport to Sydney, Australia. Complimentary Registration for 2010 FIG Congress with all Congress benefits. Participation as an official ACSM FIG Forum Delegate at the Congress. All Congress meals and selected social events. Accommodations with surveyor/student family while attending Congress. Selected activity and participation with FIG Young Surveyors Network. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? You must be currently enrolled as a student at a 4-year U.S. institution in an ABET accredited surveying/geomatics program. You must be a Student Member of ACSM. (see www.acsm.net/studentapp.pdf) You must have a current, valid US Passport with a minimum of 6 months remaining beyond dates of Congress. HOW DO I APPLY? The recipient of the ACSM FIG Forum FIG Congress Student Fellowship will be decided by the ACSM FIG Forum which consists of representatives from AAGS, GLIS, and NSPS. The successful applicant will have a technical paper accepted by the Forum through a peer review process. The closing date for submission of papers is September 22, 2009. Line drawings, Diagrams and Graphs, Tables, Formulae and Photographs may be made in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Corel. jpg-format is preferred. ReferencesBibliographical references should be listed in alphabetical order at the end of the paper. The following sequence and punctuation should be used: Author s last name, author s initials, year of publication, title of reference article, name of book or journal (or other), volume number, page numbers, city and publisher. In the text, the reference is to be giving the author s last name and the year of publication in parentheses. Biographical notes A short summary on career-to-date e.g. with details of past experience, publications, memberships of societies and associated achievements. Publication rights By submitting the full paper to the conference organisers each author agrees to give the International Federation of Surveyors FIG the right to publish his/her paper in the FIG 2010 proceedings on CD-ROM and on the FIG web site and to publish the paper on the FIG web site without any compensation and further to give FIG the right to include the paper in the FIG Surveyors Reference Library and further in the FIG Journal if selected for this purpose.
