CHARLOTTE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION MANAGER / FOOD SERVICE OPERATIONS 76013 Pay Grade M QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Experience: minimum of three (3) years of verified successful school food & nutrition experience as a supervisor / administrator required. 2. Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Management, Management & Supervision, Home Economics, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field or Associates Degree in Culinary Arts plus two (2) years experience in a verified successful culinary arts or food service program. 3. Certification as a Certified Professional Food Manager (CPFM) or ServSafe Certification required. Certification as proctor and instructor for CPFM or ServSafe preferred. *Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Director of Food and Nutrition Services JOB GOAL: To work with other team members to provide knowledge, resources, and support to meet the department s mission of providing safe and nutritious meals to students. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Monitors and reviews annually school meals programs according to Charlotte County Public Schools Meal Count Plan, district and individual school site agreements, and state and federal regulations.

Provides technical assistance to school food & nutrition services staff, including in-service on required areas of training, such as civil rights, and the use and care of chemicals and equipment. 3. Provides training in cooking, baking, safety, sanitation and marketing of program. 4. Provides feedback and evaluates food & nutrition services managers. 5. Assists in planning new facilities and renovations of existing facilities. 6. Assists food & nutrition services managers in developing a marketing plan to increase customer participation. 7. Organizes catering events including planning, execution of event and billing. 8. Assists with interviewing and hiring new staff members and substitutes, and deals with resolving personnel issues. 9. Maintains and updates HACCP, Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points, plan for food & nutrition services staff. 10. Serves as the liaison to the local health department and facilitates kitchen permits and required inspections. 11. Oversees facilities and manages safety and emergency issues such as boil water alerts, no electricity, etc. 12. Coordinates security for the program with keys, key fobs, security codes for access, and call lists for security company and law enforcement office. 13. Applies for equipment assistance grants when available. 14. Conducts annual audit of free/reduced-price meal applications to meet USDA requirements. 15. Facilitates required semi-annual hood inspections with licensed contractor. 16. Assists with updating the district s annual Best Practices safety report and Site Crisis Plan. 17. Coordinates with Maintenance & Operations and outside contractors for the repair and replacement of kitchen equipment.

Monitors the automated temperature monitoring system for food storage areas at all sites and coordinates response to reported temperatures beyond established thresholds. 19. Coordinates with Property Records for the department, including verification of equipment deletion lists. 20. Assists in procurement with the development of specifications for equipment, products and services through quotes, competitive bids and requests for proposals 21. Collects data to prepare and monitor the department s budget including purchase order approval. 22. Oversees the input of work requests for kitchen equipment and facilities repairs and follows up on the status of open work requests until completed. 23. Develops, implements, and maintains an efficient and cost effective program for periodic small wares procurement. 24. Performs other job duties as may be assigned by the director.
