Established in 1836 March 2015 Titan Sharks Swim Team It s been a pretty long winter here in Berea, but summer will be here in no time and the Berea Outdoor Pool will be opening before you know it! With that in mind the Berea Youth Sports Commission and Recreation Department are excited to announce plans for our newly revamped 2015 Titan Sharks Swim Team! We are excited to be running this program under the direction of our new Head Coach, Dave Tressel! We are truly appreciative to have Coach Tressel leading our 2015 Titan Sharks Swim Team! Dave Tressel and Cam Dedrick will also be leading our Stroke Development Classes in the months of March and April. These sessions are open to anyone looking to receive extra help with swimming skills and techniques needed to make you a more proficient swimmer and competitor. Registrations for the Stroke Development Classes are open now. Registrations for the 2015 Titan Sharks Swim Team will open up on April 1. Youth & Family Programs Youth and Family Programs In Partnership with the Berea Police and Fire Departments, Safety Town offers a variety of interactive activities and field trips plus the use of bikes, traffic signals and classroom activities to teach children safety measures. The children will focus on safety skills that can be used on a daily basis. They will practice walking to school and riding the bus and will learn how to react safely in an emergency. They also will work on learning their phone number and home address. The Berea Recreation Department is seeking out motivated volunteers to work with the children in the Safety Town program. High school students are preferred, but we will consider any person entering at least the 8th grade. The number of volunteers needed will be based on the number of volunteers returning from last year. To register, please come to the Berea Recreation center starting April 1. Taught by Dave Tressel and Cam Dedrick. Quarry Kids Adventures Ages 2-5 Cost: $3 drop-in fee or purchase a Quarry Kids punch card Come have fun, play games, learn and attend events. Fencing Thursdays, Feb. 26-April 2 at 7:30 p.m. Cost: $54 This beginning foil fencing class is fun and safe for adults and children. Beginners from age 8 to adults are welcome. No experience is necessary. All equipment is provided. Pink Ladies Baton Corps The Pink Ladies Baton Corps of Berea, Ohio teaches baton twirling classes at the recreational and competitive levels to girls ages 4 and up. We perform at special events like parades, festivals, fundraisers, and half-time shows. Our twirlers come from cities all across Northeast Ohio including: North Olmsted, Avon Lake, Parma, Lakewood, Strongsville, Brunswick, Columbia Station, and Berea. Girls will play in the Southwest Suburban Softball League. (Graduating seniors age 19 also eligible). League schedule is not yet available, but season typically begins in June and ends in late July. Practices begin in mid/late May. Games played evenings and weekends. You can register in person anytime at the Berea Recreation Center. Titans Lacrosse Matt Saris will lead our middle school aged Titans Lacrosse Team into their second season in 2015. The season will begin on Sunday, March 22 and run through May 13. Titans Travel Basketball Titans Travel Basketball was a huge success this season! Congratulations to the 6 Grade Boys (Coach, Bob Goodwin), 5 Grade Boys (Coaches-Rick Brezovar) and 4 Grade Boys (Coaches-Troy Trzebuckowski) on winning the Greater Cleveland Basketball League Championships in their divisions on Sunday, Feb. 8. Congratulations to our 6 Grade Girls (Coach White) on winning the Westlake Holiday Hoopla Tournament! Great Job! Way to represent Berea! Bagley Road Departure: 8:30 a.m. Returning: 6:30 p.m. Policies for Cancellation of Bus Trips: Last Revised: 2/26/09 If you have already paid for a bus trip and decide to cancel your reservation, you must do so at least one week prior to the scheduled bus trip in order to receive a credit. You will not be reimbursed for the trip, but will receive a credit that can be applied toward the next bus trip. This credit is valid for only one year from the date of the cancellation. If the next bus trip you attend costs more than what you previously paid, you will be responsible for the remainder of the cost. However, if the trip costs less than what you previously paid, you will NOT be reimbursed the difference. Free Appointments are required and can be made by calling (216) 676-4738 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Taxpayers must bring last year s federal and stare returns, Social Security cards or other official documentation for themselves and any dependents, all W-2 and 1099 forms showing income received and any forms showing expenses which may be deductible. Once the returns are prepared and quality reviewed, they will be e-filed at no charge to the taxpayer. 2015 Senior Services Application (Grass Cutting, Leaf Raking & Snow Removal) Berea is one of the few communities that continues to offer grass cutting, leaf raking and snow removal.
