Instructions to Applicants: The Dunia Young Leaders Scholarship Program is a highly competitive scholarship offered to school going students from Nursery to Grade 12, Undergraduate university students and Post graduate university students. Please note that Applicants should be residents of the UAE. Application must be filled in by the parent/legal guardian of the Candidate. Full details of the Applicant (parent/legal guardian of the Candidate) as well as the Candidate (student for whom Scholarship is being applied for) must be filled in the application form. Please read the instructions carefully and be sure to include a copy of the following documents and information with your application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. TERMS & CONDITIONS Dunia Young Leaders Scholarship Program A. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS i. This document outlines the terms and conditions for the Dunia Young Leaders Scholarship ( the Scholarship ) administered and granted by Dunia Finance LLC (Dunia). The Applicant and Candidate (defined hereinafter) are expected to read, understand and accept these Terms and Conditions in its entirety before applying for the Scholarship. When the Applicant registers his/her interest in the Scholarship program for the Candidate by submitting the application form, he/she is accepting the Terms and Conditions and agrees to the requirements and conditions of the Scholarship; ii. Dunia reserves the right to modify or cancel any statement in the Scholarship program description and information as it is listed on www.dunia.ae/scholarship without prior notice and accepts no responsibility for the consequences of such change. All decisions shall be at the sole discretion of Dunia. iii. Applicant is the father/mother/legal guardian of the student in whose name the Scholarship is being applied for; iv. Candidate is the student being considered for the grant of the Scholarship; v. The Candidate should be a student enrolled in a nursery, school or university; vi. There is no restriction to the number of applications per family. Families with more than one (1) eligible Candidate may submit separate applications for each Candidate. Documentation, as specified below must be submitted for each Application separately; vii. Filling this Application form does not guarantee a grant of the Scholarship. The Applicant and/or the Candidate may be requested for additional documentation and the Candidate will go through a selection process as specified below to be eligible for the scholarship; viii. All correspondence during the application process will be sent to the permanent mailing address or to the Applicant s email id provided by the Applicant on the application form. Applicants must provide the correct address/email id and inform Dunia of any subsequent changes in name or address details by submitting the information via email to scholarship@dunia.ae; ix. A Scholarship granted to a Candidate is not transferable; x. The Candidate must provide evidence of admission into the school/university as well as proof of payment of tuition fees, if already paid; xi. An Application will be considered complete only upon receipt of all the required information duly filled submitted along with the supporting documents set out in section C hereto by the Closing Date; xii. Dunia is not responsible for the inability of the Candidate to pursue the education programme due to cancelled programs, cancelled flights or any other reason whatsoever; xiii. xiv. The Applicant must be credit worthy and Dunia shall determine the same at its discretion; The Applicant must consent to (i) credit bureau(s) including but not limited to Al Etihad Credit Bureau Company (the Credit Bureau ) disclosing any and all information relating to the Applicant/Candidate including but not limited to personal information, financial data and credit information (the Information ), to Dunia in relation to the Scholarship application and on an on-going basis and to (ii) Dunia accessing any Credit Bureau s database to carry out credit checks and to obtain Information; Further, the Applicant must agree and understand that the Information is released without any liability or responsibility on the part of dunia and that the Information provided by dunia to any Credit Bureau will be made available by that Credit Bureau to its members. B. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS/CANDIDATES Eligible Applicants means all UAE residents who have returned a completed Application to Dunia by the Closing Date (defined hereinafter): The following individuals are eligible Candidates for the Scholarship: i. Students who are currently enrolled as full time students of a school - nursery, KG 1 Grade 12) in the UAE; ii. Students who are currently enrolled as full time students of a university (Bachelor s, Masters degree or PhD) in the UAE or elsewhere; Note: The Candidate must be a full time student in a school or university by the time he/she would receive the scholarship. iii. The Candidate must demonstrate the attainment of strong academic grades in his/her current school/university; iv. The Candidate must have achieved awards and honours in the field of his/her interest as a part of the extra- curricular program; C. DOCUMENTATION The following documents shall be provided by the Applicant, the Applicant s spouse as well as the Candidate: i. Copy of the passport (with six (6) months validity); or ii. Copy of Emirates ID; iii. Copy of the Khulasat Khaid (for UAE Nationals); iv. Copy of the valid residence visas (for expatriates); In addition to the above, the Candidate shall provide the following documents upon request: i. Copy of the last 3 years school/university report/mark sheet (if applicable); ii. Copies of any awards/honours bestowed on the Candidate. Note: Dunia may at its discretion request for original documents to be furnished in order to verify the particulars. All originals documents shall be returned to the Applicant upon verification. Dunia may also request for any additional documentation prior to granting the Scholarship. D. PROCESS i. Application submissions for the academic year 2015-16 are open. Candidates may refer to the closing date ( Closing Date ) for applications on the website; ii. The Applicant should register his/her interest for the Scholarship by completing the online application form available on www.dunia.ae/scholarship within the Closing Date and emailing to scholarship@dunia.ae; Page 9 of 10
iii. Applications received after the Closing Date will not be considered. We recommend submission of applications as early as possible, preferably well before the Closing Date; iv. Applications will be reviewed against the eligibility criteria by Dunia; v. Incomplete Applications will be rejected. Please refer to clause A(xi) above; vi. Successful Candidates may be invited for a panel interview conducted by Dunia and may be required to qualify Dunia s assessment tests; vii. The decision on selection of Candidates for the interview will be made by Dunia. Dunia reserves the right to accept/reject an Application at its discretion. Dunia is not obliged to provide any explanation regarding the selection; viii. Candidates will not be reimbursed for any expenses incurred in travelling to attend the interview; ix. Due to high volumes of applications received, it is not possible to give feedback on individual applications. Only the selected Candidates will be informed and will receive a Scholarship Offer Letter; x. The Scholarship offer letter will guide the Applicant on how to accept or reject the scholarship. If the Applicant does not respond to the Scholarship offer by the date outlined therein, the Scholarship will be rescinded. E. GRANT AMOUNT i. The Scholarship covers only the tuition fee for the duration of the course up to a maximum of AED 20,000 (United Arab Emirates Twenty Thousand Dirhams Only) and excludes any other out of pocket expenses including but not limited to insurance, the costs of books, travel to and from the Candidate s country of residence to the school/university, accommodation, personal living allowance and costs of entry clearance (visas); ii. Dunia at its sole discretion will establish the amount of the eligible tuition fee for establishing the grant value; iii. The grantee of the Scholarship shall be presented with a Letter of Achievement upon being granted the Scholarship. F. DISBURSAL OF FUNDS i. At the option of the Applicant, the Scholarship amount may be paid by Dunia in advance for each term directly to: the Applicant; or to the school/university. ii. iii. upon the Applicant furnishing the requisite details regarding the amount, bank account details or evidence of payment in the form of receipts; The scholarship funds will be made available via funds transfer; It is the Applicant s responsibility to provide the necessary payment information (valid mailing address, bank information). Dunia is not responsible for scholarship funds that are lost or stolen once the Applicant/Candidate has accepted the grant offer. G. PRIVACY i. Dunia agrees to respect the privacy of the Applicant/Candidate s personal information; ii. All information provided by the Applicant including the name and photograph of the Candidate, will become the property of Dunia and may be used by Dunia for the purposes of data collection/statistical analysis or marketing related activities such as inclusion in any Dunia advertisement whether audio and/or visual for its products and offers and events related thereto. Dunia may approach the Applicant/Candidate with such offers of financial products provided by Dunia; iii. Other purposes of information collection include handling administrative matters relating to the Applicant s application, administration to the program, corresponding with the Applicant/Candidate and compliance with legislative reporting requirements; iv. The information may also be disclosed to contracted service providers that Dunia uses to perform services on its behalf; v. The Applicant and the Candidate also agree to authorise Dunia to share the fact that the Candidate is a recipient of the Scholarship in the public domain. H. MISCELLANEOUS i. Scholarships are limited and the selection of candidates for this Scholarship would be at the sole discretion of Dunia Finance LLC (Dunia). Dunia is not obliged to provide an explanation regarding any decision on grantees of the Scholarship; ii. Dunia reserves the right to determine the amount of the scholarship and may grant 100% or less of the tuition fees at its sole discretion; iii. Dunia is not obliged to grant any Scholarship if the Candidates do not meet eligible selection criteria. iv. Grantees are only allowed to receive the scholarship once; v. The Applicant must keep Dunia informed of: any change in address/email id of the Applicant/Candidate; any legal action (civil or criminal), actual or threatened that the Applicant/Candidate is involved in; any injury or illness suffered by the Candidate resulting in the inability to continue with the education for which the Scholarship is granted. I. GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION i. Dunia reserves the right to revoke the Scholarship in the event that the recipient does not pursue the education programme for which the Scholarship was granted; ii. All grantees are expected to follow standards of conduct while representing Dunia as a Scholarship recipient. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of the Scholarship; iii. iv. Termination of the education programme may result in the Candidate repaying the full Scholarship grant to Dunia; Dunia may at its sole discretion revoke the scholarship if the recipient does not adhere to any of the terms and conditions set out hereinabove. Upon revocation of the Scholarship, the amount of the Grant shall be converted into a personal loan in the name of the Applicant, at the sole discretion of Dunia and subject to the Dunia Terms and Conditions, which are available on Dunia s website at www.dunia.ae/termsandconditions.
