Capital City Ringers Concert CAPITAL CITY RINGERS DECEMBER 6 AT 7 P.M. The Capital City Ringers, Inc., under the direction of Jane C. Wright, will be in concert at Coopersville Reformed Church, 423 W. Randall St., Coopersville, at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. The Capital City Ringers (CCR), an auditioned, nonprofit community handbell ensemble from the Lansing area, will feature a scripted holiday program entitled Letters to Santa. The concert includes arrangements of familiar carols from England, France, and Germany, plus classical selections from Bach, Debussy, and Tchaikovsky, and more! CCR is beginning its 31st year of promoting excellence in handbell ringing throughout the Midwest and beyond. In addition to more than 150 Malmark handbells and handchimes, the concert includes a variety of percussion and other instruments, adding a distinctive CCR touch to the concert. Jane C. Wright is the conductor and artistic director of CCR, and also serves as the director of Fine Arts Ministries at Westwood United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo. In addition to holding bachelors and masters degrees in music, Jane serves as a clinician and conductor for various choral and handbell events. Jane is the founder of both the Lansing Area Ministry of Bells, which has hosted handbell festivals and workshops in the Lansing area for the past 31 years, and the Capital City Ringers, which challenges handbell musicians through performance of the finest and most varied repertoire written or arranged for handbells. Coopersville (and CRC) native Lorraine Vassallo Finison is the group's senior member, having just started her 27th year with the ensemble. Lorraine's father, the late Angelo Vassallo, has been the group's most generous "Friend of CCR" and you will see and hear many handbells which he purchased for the group. Lorraine's husband Kim and stepdaughter Lindsay also are long-time members of the ensemble. Lorraine s brother, Vance, attends Coopersville Reformed Church. The fifteen volunteer ringers and their director perform more than fifteen concerts each year and have toured extensively in Michigan and surrounding states, as well as in the eastern United States and at Disney World, Florida. The ensemble has collaborated multiple times with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and has performed at Handbell Musicians of America events and with many other instrumental and choral ensembles from the mid-michigan area. For additional information, recordings, membership, photos, and concert dates, be sure to visit CCR s website at www.capitalcityringers.com A freewill offering will be taken. For more concert information, call the church office at 837-8949.
