THE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPER ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME Helping to turn low carbon technology into products developed in the UK

THE OPPORTUNITY The Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP) from the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) provides funding and expert support to help Low Carbon Propulsion Technology: Assess the technical, production and commercial readiness of your technology and business. Plan the commercialisation, market entry, routes to production and funding. Manage your way through automotive standards and processes for new product introduction. Engage with advanced engineering and programme teams of UK, European and global OEMs. Identify viable and supportive supply chain partners.

WHAT IS THE TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPER ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME? The TDAP is a pilot programme being run by the Advanced Propulsion Centre, supported by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills running from September 2014 to December 2015. WHY IS THIS A PILOT PROGRAMME? The pilot is being undertaken to help inform and understand the opportunities so that a longer-term programme could be implemented. WHY SHOULD YOU GET INVOLVED? You will receive specialist support and access to experts who will help to prepare your innovation for market. You will also help shape the programme to be successful in the future.

WHAT WILL WE PROVIDE? We will: Work closely, as a partner, with you in three key stages of development: 1. Concept Study understanding your solution and its viability. 2. Business Planning setting out the future business plan. 3. Characterisation exploring the validation and product testing. Respect your ideas and innovation and ensure that your IP and commercial assets are not compromised. Work with you to determine potential market sectors, early customers and income. Signpost potential sources of funding for your core technology development activities. Work with you to determine target product costs, potential manufacturing and product validation routes. Use our network and offer marketing support to ensure credibility and visibility of promising technologies. Be direct and open with you and take a frank approach.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO PROVIDE? You will: Ensure IP is formally protected and that to your knowledge IP of others has not been encroached. Undertake a commitment to complete any stages of the programme. Work with members of APC and our delivery partner (Productiv) to share all information and be honest about knowledge gaps in order that they can be addressed by the team. Treat APC and Productiv as equal team members. Be direct and open with us.

WHAT ARE THE PROGRAMME BENEFITS? Helping you convert your good ideas into great innovative Low Carbon Propulsion products. Provide an un-biased voice of reason, a partner that is interested in realising Low Carbon Propulsion system solutions and helping the Technology Developers gain a solid platform from which they can better promote their products in to the market place. Leveraging technical expertise with our industry knowledge and wide range of networks and capabilities. Provide funding that matches with your commitment, and share some of the early stage risks of as part of your idea to product development journey. Developing marketing plans that consider different customer needs, routes to market and identify the unique selling proposition that your technology creates. Coaching you and your team through the Automotive product development minefield and better arming you with knowledge and experience that will accelerate your journey. Provide you with grant funding to support the process.
