Foundation Surpasses $100,000.00 Goal! Since its inception in 2001, the Foundation has raised over $100,000.00! Due to the overwhelming support from the community, this level of funding was attained earlier than anticipated. We are able to provide excellence and innovation in education for our students due to the continued generosity of our community. Because of the overwhelming Ruth Dahl-Weinberg Scholarship Fund Established in Memory of Former Tri-Creek Teacher In September, a new scholarship fund was established in memory of Mrs. Ruth Dahl-Weinberg. A life-long resident of Lowell, Ruth Weinberg taught in the Tri-Creek School Corporation for thirty-five years, teaching at the Oakland and Lake Prairie Elementary Schools. Ruth s husband, Joseph Weinberg of Lowell, established this fund to honor Ruth for the years of dedication she provided the many students she taught during her career. financial support given by community members, civic organizations, Tri-Creek students, faculty, staff and administration we have been able to provide the needed funding for special projects, grants and scholarships. Each of us can make a difference in the education of our children, noted Foundation President, Cheryl Rosevear. In this time of inadequate and severely decreased The Ruth Dahl-Weinberg Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000.00, will be awarded for the next five years. In Memory Of Ruth Dahl-Weinberg The recipients will be graduating seniors from Lowell High School who attend a four year college majoring in education. funding for education, it is imperative that we help our students attain every opportunity possible. I am proud that the Foundation has become an integral part of raising funds for our children s educational needs. In 2004, the Foundation will be awarding many more grants and scholarships which will assure that our students will have outstanding educational experiences. I was the recipient of a scholarship when I attended Butler University, so I know how valuable a scholarship can be, states Mr. Weinberg. I hope that this fund will continue to grow in order to support students for many years to come. Anyone wishing to contribute to this fund can direct their tax deductible gift, in any dollar amount, to the Foundation specifying the gift is for the Ruth Dahl-Weinberg Scholarship Fund.
Page 2 of 8 Tri-Creek Education Foundation, Inc. Annual Review 2003 You cannot live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." JOHN WOODEN College Basketball Coach A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT What a phenomenal year we have had! Due to the continued generosity of our community, we not only surpassed $100,000.00 in funds raised, but we were able to help many more students by awarding additional scholarships and grants! THANK YOU! More than ten new scholarships will soon be awarded to Lowell High School students. In addition, professional development grants are helping support the school corporation s improvement plan by increasing student achievement, and the Foundation s competitive grant cycle for 2003 provided funding for four innovative programs. Because of your help, we have been able to provide many extraordinary experiences for our students! I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of the Foundation s Board of Directors for his/her tireless efforts in improving education for Tri-Creek students. A large portion of their work is performed discreetly but certainly not unnoticed. I am honored to be a part of this magnificent team! Finally, on behalf of all the children in the Tri-Creek area, thank you for your continued support! Cheryl Rosevear The matching grant opportunity was announced on September 9, 2003 and with $5,000.00 raised in a matter of a few weeks, the match was completed by the end of September, 2003. ANONYMOUS DONOR, ONCE AGAIN, OFFERS MATCHING GRANT OPPORTUNITY For the second consecutive year, an anonymous donor offered the Foundation a $5,000.00 matching grant opportunity. Specifying that the funds must be used to match all incoming donations dollarfor-dollar, the donor matched all gifts until the $5,000.00 limit was reached. One very desirable part of NEW SCHOLARSHIPS ESTABLISHED DURING MATCHING GRANT OPPORTUNITY Six new scholarships were established during the matching grant opportunity in September. They will benefit graduating seniors of Lowell High School. The new scholarships, established in partnership with the high school s the matching grant was the fact that the anonymous donor would not only match each donation dollar-for-dollar, but would direct the matching funds to the same fund chosen by the original donor. The matching grant opportunity was announced on September 9, 2003 and with $5,000.00 raised in a Athletic Department, will be awarded beginning in the spring of 2004. The new scholarships are: Kelly Adams Scholarship, Pepsi Leadership Scholarship, Doug Pratt Memorial Scholarship, L-Club Leadership Scholarship, matter of a few weeks, the match was completed by the end of September, 2003. The funds which benefited from the matching grant opportunity were: Operating Fund: $75.00 Endowment Fund: $100.00 Scholarship Fund: $3,125.00 Donor Directed Fund: $1,700.00 Athletic Director s Leadership/Citizenship Scholarship, and the Girls Basketball Leadership Scholarship.
