Laura Pierce the Westbury UFSD was not in attendance as she is attending the National School Boards Conference in Boston, MA. Since there was no one in the audience, no questions were asked the candidates. The forum ended at 7:01 PM. ANNUAL MEETING The 2016 Nassau Annual Meeting was held. Mr. Schultz read the letter from Commissioner MaryEllen Elia. He asked for questions on the Nassau 2016/17 Budget. Appointment the External Auditor as follows: The Bonadio Group for the 2015/16 School Year PRESENTATIONS/DISCUSSIONS OR STATUS PROGRESS REPORTS/STRATEGIC PLAN Anthony Fierro, Executive Director the Facilities Department, gave his departmental report. He reported that his department takes care 1,000,000 square feet property on 57 acres which includes 22 owned facilities. He has 119 full-time employees and 27 part-time. He reported that his department has completed 3,000 work orders over the past year. Mr. Fierro reported that his department has been fering custodial training programs to our custodians. Mr. Fierro explained how he has reduced utility costs over the past few years. He spoke to the Board about the capital construction projects. He reported that Rick Wiedersum, our architect, has reported to him that the construction cost escalations on projects are coming in 10-15% higher than last year. He reported on the school district services that his department provides. One is the Work Order Management Service through SchoolDude for procurement support and training. The other service is the Facilities Service CoSer for staffing in maintenance, custodial support and grounds personnel. There is another CoSer for Energy Management which is not subscribed to at this point. Mrs. Coates asked if the department will be able to handle the projects on the Building Conditions Survey. Mr. Fierro stated that we work collaboratively with the departments, and we will look at each the projects and do everything we can to complete the projects. Mrs. Coates asked about the card access doors at the Rosemary Kennedy School. He reported that we have 400+ cameras throughout the agency. Karen Ellis, Executive Director Special Education, reported that we have elopement plans in each our buildings. training program for the custodians is a wonderful idea. Mr. Fierro reported that the costs for the training are covered by an interdivisional charge to each department. The issue state funding for LIHSA and STEM is with Senator John Flanagan, and he will report back when a decision has been made. OLD BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS There was no old business to be discussed. Mrs. Coates reported that the gala is next Wednesday evening, and we have 310 attendees right now. Twelve the thirteen honorees were videotaped by our students to compile one video that will be shown at the event. The Foundation made $120 on the Islander game. Mr. Kaye reported that he received the audit from Barbara Golemme on the snow removal. He asked administration to look for an alterative way to address snow removal in the agency. Dr. Begley stated that this was a pilot this year, and we need to dig a little deeper into that report and will report back to the Board. Mrs. Siegel stated that our buildings are spread out throughout the county, and that causes an issue with equipment and people to work on the snow days. Mr. Kaye stated that if we are going to need equipment, we need to plan for that. Motion to Go into Executive Session Martin Kaye, Board Trustee Stephen Witt, Board Trustee The Board went into Executive Session to discuss the acquisition property for a particular program and the possible salary increases for particular employees in the agency at 7:45 PM.
