WISHING YOU A HAPPY 2014! ANNUAL HOLIDAY BRUNCH What a wonderful brunch! We had 62 people in attendance, including our speaker Andrew Samwick from the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Social Sciences, Maureen Mentrek 16 a fellow at the Center, and the Dartmouth Cords, a men s a cappella group of current students. Maureen Mentrek 16 DCNEO Alum of the Year Matt Raskind 11, with (Dad) Peter Raskind 78 DARTMOUTH ACCEPTS 469 EARLY DECISION APPLICANTS Dartmouth accepted 469 students from a pool of 1678 early decision applicants. These students will make up approximately 40% of the class of 2018. The mean SAT score was 2156 and the mean ACT score was 32.1. Thirty one percent ranked first in their class. The number of early decision applicants increased by 6 %. The acceptance rate for the ED s decreased nearly 2%. FUTURE EVENTS WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15 th [6:00 8:00 p.m.] The DCNEO Women Present: Women and Wealth Management by Heather Ettinger 83 Heather Ettinger 83 is a managing partner at Fairport Asset Management. Heather has been named one of the top 50 distinguished women in wealth management. She dedicates her professional practice and community involvement to advancing the interests of women and girls. Her Solutions for Women seminars aim to enlighten women on investing, financial planning, and socially responsible philanthropic giving. Heather is widely recognized for her unique expertise, experience, and dedication to helping other women build their financial acumen and wealth; both in her professional practice and community involvement. Most recently, she co- authored a study of over 550 women in 44 states entitled Women of Wealth: Why Does the Financial Services Industry Still Not Hear Them? Heather s presentation will be audience specific on how to approach investing, financial planning, and strategic wealth management. She will emphasize why women should be deliberate in considering these issues, and should take hold of their own asset management. She will also be a resource to those who have questions and concerns, and can recommend further resources to your needs. The talk will be open to the Ivy 15 network and will be followed by a mixer to meet Dartmouth and Ivy affiliated women in the area, inclusive of hot and cold appetizers and a cash bar. The other two are regional airings, the first of those is scheduled for 12/10 (on the Big Ten Digital Network) when they travel to face Illinois, and the second is 1/18 (Fox Sports 1) when they play St. John s at Carnesecca Arena. SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 22nd DARTMOUTH ON LOCATION (DOL) The Dartmouth on Location event is set. You should have received a postcard and/or email from Hanover about the Dartmouth on Location (DOL) event on Saturday, February 22nd. Details and event registration are available at the link below. Professor Amy Lawrence, the Mary Brinsmead Wheelock Professor in the Humanities, will be our discussion leader.

Shackelford 77, Senior Deputy Director of the Kimball Art Museum, Fort Worth, Texas will speak at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Van Gogh: The Face in the Mirror. Wednesday, March 5 th Laurel J. Richie 81, President of the WNBA and Dartmouth Trustee will be the keynote speaker at the 2014 Cleveland Leadership Center Annual Meeting. We will pass along further information as it is obtained.

(And, of course ) You should have received the annual print newsletter. It recaps some of this year s highlights and one particular significant bit of scholarship news. It also contains a 2014 DCNEO dues notice. Thanks to your generous and continuing support we re able to host current students and potential future students and their families at events and receptions. It also assists with the cost of bringing speakers from Dartmouth to our meetings. You ll note that the dues are for a calendar year. The College operates on a fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending the next year on June 30 th. It does get confusing but the notice you re receiving today and will receive in the print newsletter is for the calendar year 2014.
