Time For Play We have a playgroup at the Nisswa Community Center for children ages 6 and under. Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (October-April) Ride on toys, slide, parachute, cars, blocks, play houses, etc. Bring a sack lunch if you wish. Cost is $2 per day per child over 12 months of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is required, just come to the Community Center for some fun! Winter Bootcamp Gym Free Training - a do anywhere indoor workout. Learn cardio and strength ideas to use at home! Learn form while performing strength, balance, and core exercises utilizing body weight and surrounding equipment. Q&A sessions on healthy habits, living, and alternatives. CPR/AED-American Safety & Health Institute Classes: Learn to recognize and respond to the signals of heart attack, stroke and other medical emergencies in adults, children and infants including obstructed (choking) airway, allergic reactions and drowning. Each participant will have their own manikin which allows for more hands-on practice, no waiting, no sharing. Students will earn a 2-year certification including Continuing Education Units (CEU's). Class size is limited. Instructors: Dianna Jenkins and Laura Middelstadt. Dates: January 12, February 18, and April 5 Time: 6:30 9:30 PM Deadline: must be received a minimum of one (1) day before class. Cost: $50 (after deadline: $60) Basic First Aid-American Safety & Health Institute CLass: Participants learn standard OSHA precautions toward diseases that can be contracted from body fluid including blood, saliva and other potentially infectious substances. Training includes first response techniques for medical emergencies including bleeding, shock, burns, sprains, strains, fractures, asthma, diabetic episodes, seizures, severe allergic reactions, stroke, poisoning, insect bites and stings, heat-related and cold-related emergencies, care for a knocked-out teeth, blisters and nosebleeds. Participants will have hands-on experience applying bandages, splints and slings. Students will earn a 2-year certification including Continuing Education Units (CEU's). Class size is limited. Instructors: Dianna Jenkins and Laura Middelstadt. Date: February 23 Time: 6:30 9:30 PM Deadline: must be received a minimum of one (1) day before class. Cost: $50 (after deadline: $60) AARP Smart Driving Ages: 55+. Learn about the new Minnesota traffic laws and regulations, 3 major problem areas for senior drivers, and video with discussion. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate that you can turn into your car insurance company for a 10% discount. Coffee and cookies will be provided.
