Eugene Sara Detachment Marine Corps League PO Box 2051 Billings, MT 59103 WEB www.eugenesara.com email esmarinecorpsleague@gmail.com Commandant - Joe Aguilar Editor - Tim Bender Distribution Joe Aguilar Advertising Jim Borner, Photos Tim & Patricia Bender, Eva Aguilar Commandants Message Greetings, Members and friends of the Marine Corps League, The end of June upon us and so is the busy season. Well, we are almost done with the headstones at the cemetery. On June 22, Tom Jones and Tiny Metcalf came to help Ralph McKinney and myself with the mixing of concrete for the headstone pads. On the 23rd, Tom came again to help finish up on the first 68 pads. We have nine more to do and the back fill will begin. On July 27, Burt and Anita held their patio party, which was very well attended by members and their wives. Attending were Joe and Eva, Tiny, Jeannie and Becky, Ralph and Karen, Dennis and Barbara, Jim Borner Bill Bishop, Tom and Donna Lowry, Chris and Lady Grubbs, a great time was had 1

Senior Vice Commandant Report: From your Senior Vice, Remember to recruit, recruit, recruit!!! Dennis Sitzler, Sr. Vice Jr. Vice Commandant Report: Marines, Hello, fellow Marines! Due to my current work schedule I am not able to host the patio parties this summer. Burt & Anita s party was successful, pictures will follow in this letter. Chris Grubs will host the patio party for July at his new home on the 11th at 1600hrs at 2861 Colton Blvd on the west end and Dennis Sitzler in August. This Fourth of July, after the Laurel Parade, Laurel Ford is hosting the High Five Wounded Warrior Car Tour again at Noon. Col. Folsom will return and a Marine Corps General is on tap to be there with a second car to sign. Please attend if you can. Thanks again to all our members, Marines, sponsors and your families. Semper Fi Chaplains Report: Fellow Marines and families, Hi, Again, we are called upon to inform all that has happened this past month. I have performed several marine prayers at funerals along with some firing details. The 22nd of June I did a funeral in Deer Lodge, Mt. for Robert Steinberger. I was on the same Honor Flight with him and his daughter and she asked if I could do the prayer at his service, how can you say no to such an honor? I did a lot at riverside cemetery string lines, digging, pouring concrete, and setting headstones. I'm not forgetting others, for I'm sure it will be covered by the other officers. Made a trip to Washington State to see my brother, who has advanced stage of Alzheimer's. It is getting hot out, so I guess it's summer. A big thank you to Charles Doolittle for he has been my rock. My faith is strong, but I'll be honest, Charles has certainly helped me keep it together up to this point. I ask the Lord to continue to stick by me and also with everyone else. God Bless everyone and please give as much as possible to the league. Remember Marines are known for first to fight, now as retired Marines, lets be first to help. Thank you all for what you do. Simper Fi & God Bless all. James Borner, Chaplain (406)850-1802 Tim Bender (406)697-5968 tim.mtlonegunman@gmail.com 2

All, The Captains corner is short this time as the reserve drill weekend limited the time available to the Captain. Marines, Sailors, and Marine Family Members, This last week we promoted First Sergeant Leibfried to Sergeant Major. Please, if you see him before he departs give him your congratulations. Also this month Sergeant Major takes off to ANGLICO in Camp Pendleton. We wish him fair winds and following seas as he departs for his first tour as a Battalion Sergeant Major. We will welcome aboard First Sergeant Peterson next week. Also some good news, Staff Sergeant Pickett and his wife, Mayra, welcomed their second son, Jax, into the world.
